Learning about Glory by Lynn Haugen (Butte, ND USA) 5 Stars May 13, 2009 I started this book thinking it was just going to be another story of parents in their struggle with a disabled child. From the very first page I was found my preconceived notions were wrong. This is the story of real people, sharing their lives genuinely, sharing their tiredness, their frustrations, their questions, their doubts, their search for answers - in such a real way that I could relate it to my own life. I found hope and purpose in traveling the road to glory which they have mapped out for me. Because they have lived on this road and traveled on it themselves, it is proven to give the things in life we all search and long for... surrender, hope, joy, faith, and sharing our lives with others. This book shows that we can live authentic lives for the glory of the Lord even with sharp thorns pushing us along the way. It gives encouragement and challenge and pushes us to live above average.
Strength and Encouragement by A. West 5 Stars March 14, 2009 The way that this family embraced their daily struggles with Carly are incredible. I'm personally not dealing with major health issues with my children but believe that their example of how they have given their struggles to God and he has gotten them through. How I react to the small stuff or the screaming of my kids is small potatoes compared to what they endure everyday. The Lord our God will take us through whatever may come our way and this book gives hope to those in these times right now.

I have been a friend of the family for a long time and have followed their trials and tribulations for many years. Even though I thought I understood their situation and their faith in the Lord, they conveyed a whole new story that I had no idea of. From the book I have learned that I must put myself in the Lord's hand and let him be the guide of my life!

The authors use their very difficult circumstances to offer real and practical advice to readers who wish to find strength and encouragement within their own hardships, no matter what they may be. In an overwhelming world, Finding Glory in the Thorns is a genuine, uplifting and EASILY-APPLIED guide to applying God's promise of joy in our lives. I found it refreshing to hear from people unashamed to be human and share that life's hardships may only truly be transcended with our hope placed firmly in God's capable hands.
