EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Ellen Notbohm's first book, Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew, was a shot heard throughout the worldwide autism community, branded by readers as "required reading for all social service workers, teachers and relatives of children with autism." Now, for the teacher in all of us comes Ten Things Your Student with Autism Wishes You Knew. The unique perspective of a child's voice is back to help us understand the thinking patterns that guide their actions, shape an environment conducive to their learning style, and communicate with them in meaningful ways. Ten Things Your Student with Autism Wishes You Knew affirms that autism imposes no inherent upper limits on achievement, that both teacher and child "can do it." It's the game plan every educator, parent, or family member needs to make the most of every "teaching moment" in the life of these children we love. |

| | Excellent Mind-Openers by Laura M. Farley (Palmer, AK USA) 5 Stars February 28, 2009 As a Special Education Teacher new to Autism I found this book a great mind saver. It reminds us to NOT takes things personal with our students with ASD. I have posted the 10 things in my classroom for all who work with my students.
This is something that should be handed out before the first paycheck to anyone working with students with ASD, written from the students' point of view.
THANK YOU!!
| | A MUST HAVE FOR EVERY SCHOOL by Susan Griffith (NY,USA) 5 Stars January 10, 2009 I have given this book to EVERY teacher who has called me about a problem they are having with my child. I can explain to them why my child is doing the things she is doing but it is much easier for them to get the whole picture. While I had to learn by trail in error this saves them from doing things that will trigger a problem. I believe EVERY teacher should read this book, wheather they are teaching special ed or not, because at some point in their career they WILL come across a student that will wind up teaching them a thing or two.
| | Autism/Asperger by Lisa (illinois) 5 Stars December 22, 2008 This is a very informative, easy to read book. I think all teachers (and parents) with Autistic/Aspergers kids should be required to read this!!
| | about aspergers by likes to read (singapore) 4 Stars November 27, 2008 This is an excellent and informative book but I feel that it deals more with the child with Aspergers syndrome than the more severe Autistic children that I have come across as a specialist teacher of young children. It is a must to buy for this area as it explains how to manage and encourage such children in a positive manner with expectations of success unlike the usual presumptions of failure one encounters in life.It would have been better if this had been re-titled Aspergers rather than Autism as it is such a wide spectrum.
