Product Description
Drawing from the collection of the world-renowned Macaulay Library at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Bird Songs presents the most notable North American birds—including the rediscovered Ivory-billed Woodpecker—in a stunning new format. Renowned bird biologist Les Beletsky provides a succinct description of each of the 250 birds profiled, with an emphasis on their distinctive songs. Lavish full-color illustrations accompany each account, while a sleek, built-in digital audio player holds 250 corresponding songs and calls. In his foreword, North American bird expert and distinguished natural historian Jon L. Dunn shares insights gained from a lifetime of passionate study. Complete with the most up-to-date and scientifically accurate information, Bird Songs is the first book to capture the enchantment of these beautiful birds in words, pictures, and song. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, located in Ithaca, New York, is a nonprofit institution focused on birds and whose mission is to interpret and conserve the earth's biological diversity through research. The Macaulay Library at the Cornell Lab is the major source of sound recordings of birds for research, education, conservation, the media, and commercial products.

Bird Songs by Peeps 4 Stars
November 02, 2009
I had already purchased this book for myself and have enjoyed listening to the birds (it's a talking book) and identifying the birds. The only drawback is that it's too big to carry if going on a hike to birdwatch. I ordered 3 more books for Christmas presents this year. I'm sure the recipients will enjoy it too!

We got this book for my father-in-law's 94th birthday. He's homebound now but has always been a bird lover. I think this brings a bit of the outdoors in for him. He has to show everyone who visits his new "toy." Great book!

I should get a commission by Dennis Kibler (San Marcos CA USA) 5 Stars

I'm not interested in birds, but this book is amazing. I would have happily paid twice as much. We keep it front and center on our bookshelf, although I'm thinking of hiding it. Everyone who visits us and is shown the book, can't stop playing the bird songs. And they want their own copy.

I wanted to learn the bird songs of my area so I would know who was singing at my feeder aea. But it turns out that this book is a conversation piece and a party pleaser. Everyone wants to play with it, from kids to my 91 year old Dad! Who knew? Makes a great gift for any bird lover.
