EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description The present selection of 12 inspiring experiments has been carefully selected to cover the most commonly used laboratory techniques for the synthesis and analysis of bioactive compounds. Together, they provide a solid introduction to the skills and techniques that are required for the successful study of Chemical Biology.. Here you will learn how to synthesize a peptide by solid phase synthesis modify a protein by covalent attachment of a lipid chain modify an oligonucleotide and use it for DNA-directed immobilization isolate an enzyme for in vitro synthesis of a polysaccharide design a ligand for a protein by molecular modeling perform a proteome analysis in yeast All experiments haven been thoroughly tested in the authors' laboratory and come with an easy to follow step-by-step instruction, complemented by abundant practical hints and by a thorough treatment of the underlying theory and mechanisms. |

| First title on chemical biology by Hongyi Wang (Houston TX) 5 Stars November 14, 2008 This 2004 German publication should have a solid position in the short history of chemical biology. Twleve experiemtns were selected to cover the most common techniques in the growing science. Background, experiment procedure and literature were described with great details for highly reliable execution. It is not an exaggeration to say that this book helped to introduce this new science to the comminity in an extremely timely manner.

| Foundations of Chemical Biology (ºc Ocp ºt Oxford Chemistry Primers, 98) by C. M. Dobson (Author), J. A. Gerrard (Author), A. J. Pratt (Author)
Chemical biology is born out of a desire to understand the molecular basis of life. What are the molecules found in cells? How do their intrinsic properties equip them to perform all the complex processes found in cells? This book introduces the fundamental chemistry of the molecules that are essential to all cells. The molecules covered include amino acids and sugar phosphate derivatives, and the macromolecules derived from them (proteins and nucleic acids respectively). In such a short text...

| Molecules and Medicine by E. J. Corey (Author), László Kürti (Author), Barbara Czakó (Author)
Molecules and Medicine provides, for the first time ever, a completely integrated look at chemistry, biology, drug discovery, and medicine. It delves into the discovery, application, and mode of action of more than one hundred of the most significant molecules in use in modern medicine. Opening sections of the book provide a unique, clear, and concise introduction, which enables readers to understand chemical formulas.

| Molecular Biology of the Cell by Bruce Alberts (Author), Alexander Johnson (Author), Julian Lewis (Author), Martin Raff (Author), Keith Roberts (Author), Peter Walter (Author)
For nearly a quarter century Molecular Biology of the Cell has been the leading cell biology textbook. This tradition continues with the new Fifth Edition, which has been completely revised and updated to describe our current, rapidly advancing understanding of cell biology. To list but a few examples, a large amount of new material is presented on epigenetics; stem cells; RNAi; comparative genomics; the latest cancer therapies; apoptosis (now its own separate chapter); and cell cycle...
