EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description This all-in-one compendium of current laboratory techniques for the study of RNA brings together numerous novel methods that were hitherto only available through the primary literature. The editors - themselves experienced RNA researchers - have gathered expert authors from the US and Europe for the ultimate in everyday working knowledge. In more than 300 detailed protocols, all the techniques covered are treated with the user in mind, including practical advice and an invaluable "troubleshooting" section. The broad scope of the book allows the side-by-side treatment of specialized methods with basic biochemical techniques for the isolation, characterization and functional analysis of RNA. All pertinent laboratory methods are presented in detail, including + RNA synthesis, modification and ligation + Sequence and structure determination of RNA + Isolation and purification of ribonucleoproteins + RNA crystallization + Single molecule studies on RNA + Analysis of splice variants + RNA imaging in vivo + Modeling and prediction of RNA structure + RNA microarrays + Aptamer libraries and SELEX technology + RNA interference In short, a guide to successful experimentation for molecular biologists, biochemists and biotechnologists and of interest to every researcher experimenting with RNA. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 1 review)
| RNA by Jessica A. Matts 4 Stars December 12, 2006 This is the perfect addition to anyone's library who works with RNA. It covers all relevant areas, though it could have had a little more on RNA interferance, and related small RNAs. The only drawback (besides the price) is that this is a two volume set, so be prepared for a nice big bulky package to come.

| RNA-Protein Interaction Protocols (Methods in Molecular Biology) by Ren-Jang Lin (Editor)
Due to the vital biological importance of RNA and proteins functioning together within a cell, a protocol volume describing experimental procedures to study their interactions should find a home in many laboratories. RNA-Protein Interaction Protocols, Second Edition updates, complements, and expands upon the popular first edition by providing a collection of cutting-edge techniques developed or refined in the past few years along with tried-and-true methods. The expert contributors explore...

| Regulatory RNAs by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (Author), Bruce Stillman (Editor), David Stewart (Editor)
Regulatory RNAs" was the theme of the 71st annual Cold Spring Harbor Symposium on Quantitative Biology, where scientists from around the world presented the latest advances in the biology of RNAs, including RNA interference, transcriptional and translational control, RNA editing, and the role of RNAs in biological circuits and epigenetic events. Investigators discussed the latest technologies aimed at large-scale characterization of RNAs, as well as the roles of small RNAs in development and...

| Epigenetics by C. David Allis (Author), Thomas Jenuwein (Author), Danny Reinberg (Author), Marie-Laure Caparros (Author)
The regulation of gene expression in many biological processes involves epigenetic mechanisms. In this new volume, 24 chapters written by experts in the field discuss epigenetic effects from many perspectives. There are chapters on the basic molecular mechanisms underpinning epigenetic regulation, discussion of cellular processes that rely on this kind of regulation, and surveys of organisms in which it has been most studied. Thus, there are chapters on histone and DNA methylation, siRNAs...

| microRNA: Biology, Function & Expression (Nuts & Bolts series) by Neil J. Clarke; Philippe Sanseau (Author)
Providing a comprehensive overview of a fast-emerging field, this volume dedicated to the biological role of microRNAs (miRNAs) discusses methods for identifying and characterizing their functions and looks at potential applications of microRNA research in medicine and pharmacology. miRNAs are small, noncoding RNA molecules that appear to regulate gene expression. Found in plant and animal species and possibly traceable back to ancient forms of life, miRNAs are now estimated to regulate a third...

| The RNA World, Third Edition (Cold Spring Harbor Monograph Series) by Raymond F. Gesteland (Author), Raymond F. Gesteland (Editor)
Recent studies on the activities of RNA in the cell have revolutionized our understanding of the many roles played by this molecule. The first two editions of The RNA World (1993, 1999) shed light on the pre–biotic era dominated by this versatile molecule, and provided an overview of the state of RNA research at the time. The new third edition of The RNA World updates this perspective, describing the vast array of newly discovered roles for RNA in the modern world. The updated original...
