EDITORIAL REVIEWS

Product Description
A complete update of the highly acclaimed handbook with data on all neurotransmitters and the majority of neuromodulators. The coverage is now even more comprehensive, with 15% more entries on neuropeptides, "classic" neurotransmitters and related substances in a clear, alphabetical format. The methodological section has been expanded by 50% and now includes color figures, plus new chapters on genomics, proteomics, databases, microarrays, MALDI-TOF, neutrophins, FGF, endocannabinoids and neuroimaging. The text provides clearly structured information on the biosynthesis and degradation, localization, receptors, signal transduction pathways, and biological effects in the central nervous system, with all substances uniformly treated for an easy comparison of data. Furthermore, introductory chapters on receptors, transporters, and the blood-brain barrier make this an indispensable tool for researchers, teachers, and advanced students, as well as a must-have for every neuroscientist.

An excellent reference on neuromodulators and transmitters. The book provides the most comprehensive review of the field available. The concept of the book is to give in short chapters an overview of the biosynthesis of neuromodulators and transmitters, followed by a description of the localization of these substances and their receptors in the brain. Last but not least, the different subtypes and their biological action are described in a excellent way. - a must have for neuroscientists !

The Biochemical Basis of Neuropharmacology (Cooper, The Biochemical Basis of Neuropharmacology)
by Jack R. Cooper (Author), Floyd E. Bloom (Author), Robert H. Roth (Author)

Aside from the usual updating of material, the major change in this edition is an extensive rewriting of the chapter on memory and learning to emphasize that genes that are involved in behavior are not immutable but their expression can be modified by transcription factors. Thus, with respect to learning, that old question about which is more important, nature or nuture, genetics or environment, should be answered with the question, which leg is more important for walking, the left leg or the...

The Prefrontal Cortex, Fourth Edition
by Joaquin Fuster (Editor)

This is the fourth edition of the undisputed classic on the prefrontal cortex, the principal "executive" structure of the brain. Because of its role in such cognitive functions as working memory, planning, and decision-making, the prefrontal cortex is critically involved in the organization of behavior, language, and reasoning. Prefrontal dysfunction lies at the foundation of several psychotic and neurodegenerative disorders, including schizophrenia and dementia. ...
