Stochastic Calculus for Finance I: The Binomial Asset Pricing Model (Springer Finance) (v. 1)

Stochastic Calculus for Finance I: The Binomial Asset Pricing Model (Springer Finance) (v. 1)
by Steven E. Shreve (Author)

Stochastic Calculus for Finance evolved from the first ten years of the Carnegie Mellon Professional Master's program in Computational Finance. The content of this book has been used successfully with students whose mathematics background consists of calculus and calculus-based probability. The text gives both precise statements of results, plausibility arguments, and even some proofs, but more importantly intuitive explanations developed and refine through classroom experience with this...

Applied Partial Differential Equations:: A Visual Approach

Applied Partial Differential Equations:: A Visual Approach
by Peter A. Markowich (Author)

The book presents topics of science and engineering, which occur in nature or are part of our daily lives. It describes phenomena which are modelled by partial differential equations, relating to physical variables like mass, velocity and energy, etc. to their spatial and temporal variations.

Typically, these equations are highly nonlinear, in many cases they are also vectorial systems, and they represent a challenge even for the most modern and sophisticated mathematical-analytical...

EDITORIAL REVIEWS

Product Description
In this monograph the author presents his so-called empirical spatial-temporal traffic pattern formation he had developed to reconcile the extremely complex dynamical non-linear process with empirical patterns that have been sufficiently understood only recently. In the first part earlier traffic flow theories and mathematical models are reviewed. In the second part the empirical spatial-temporal patterns are given and, finally in parts III and IV the mathematical model and the engineering applications are presented. The book addresses researchers and practitioners alike.

I found this book very good for just ONE particular type of Traffic and not very general as it could be deduced from the title. Very good for highways but nothing else, even is quite limited from the Complex System analysis. Very good if that is your main interest (freeways) but take care if you are interested in more complex situations of traffic with more constraints and boundary conditions, like traffic lights, crossing roads and so on.

Traffic & Highway Engineering

Traffic & Highway Engineering
by Nicholas J. Garber (Author), Lester A. Hoel (Author)

The new edition of Garber and Hoel's best-selling text focuses on giving students insight into all facets of traffic and highway engineering. Students generally come to this course with little knowledge or understanding of the importance of transportation, much less of the extensive career opportunities within the field. Transportation is an extremely broad field, and courses must either cover all transportation modes or focus on specifics. While many topics can be covered with a survey...

Traffic Theory (International Series in Operations Research & Management Science)

Traffic Theory (International Series in Operations Research & Management Science)
by Denos C. Gazis (Author)

Traffic Theory describes and illustrates the key models of traffic flow and associated traffic phenomena such as conflicts in traffic, traffic generation and assignment, and traffic control. The use of these various models are explored both in terms of how they have improved traffic systems over the years and how better implementation of these models can accelerate the successful deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Furthermore, the book outlines opportunities for development...

Principles of Highway Engineering and Traffic Analysis
by Fred L. Mannering (Author), Scott S. Washburn (Author), Walter P. Kilareski (Author)

There is more demand than ever for highway engineers due to new highway projects throughout the country. This new fourth edition provides interested engineers with the information needed to solve the highway-related problems that are most likely to be encountered in the field. It includes updated coverage on intersection sight distance, basics of signal timing, and interchange design. New sample FE exam questions are also presented throughout the chapters. Engineers will not only learn the...
