ESR Spectroscopy in Membrane Biophysics (Biological Magnetic Resonance)

ESR Spectroscopy in Membrane Biophysics (Biological Magnetic Resonance)
by Marcus A. Hemminga (Author), Lawrence J. Berliner (Author)

Spectroscopic methods are not only important as an analytical tool, they also provide information about fundamental physical and chemical properties of molecules, the molecular and electronic structure, and the dynamic behaviour of molecules. Starting from a comprehensive quantum mechanical description, ESR Spectroscopy in Membrane Biophysics introduces the optical (IR, Raman, UV/Vis, CD, fluorescence and laser spectroscopy) and magnetic resonance (1D and 2D-NMR, ESR) techniques.

PET/CT in Clinical Practice

PET/CT in Clinical Practice
by T. B. Lynch (Author), J. Clarke (Contributor), G. Cook (Contributor), S. Hughes (Contributor), M. Love (Contributor), C. Marshall (Contributor), S. Valley (Contributor), L. Wilson (Contributor), S. Woods (Contributor)

PET/CT in Clinical Practice provides guidelines for appropriate use of PET/CT in lung, lymphoma, esophageal, colorectal, head/neck and melanoma, with reference also made to tumors of the male and female reproductive system. Concise, relevant and illustrated with many interesting PET/CT images, each chapter contains a summary of the appropriate staging system. The range of normal PET/CT appearances is outlined in chapter 9. The book focuses on FDG-PET/CT throughout, but chapter 10 makes...

Product Description
Cardiac diseases, and in particular coronary artery disease, are the leading cause of death and morbidity in industrialized countries. The development of non-invasive imaging techniques for the heart and the coronary arteries has been considered a key element in improving patient care. A breakthrough in cardiac imaging using CT occurred in 1998, with the introduction of multi-slice computed tomography (CT). Since then, amazing advances in performance have taken place with scanners that acquire up to 64 slices per rotation. This book discusses the state-of-the-art developments in multi-slice CT for cardiac imaging as well as those that can be anticipated in the future. It serves as a comprehensive work that covers all aspects of this technology, from the technical fundamentals and image evaluation all the way to clinical indications and protocol recommendations. This fully reworked second edition draws on the most recent clinical experience obtained with 16- and 64-slice CT scanners by world-leading experts from Europe and the United States. It also includes "hands-on" experience in the form of 10 representative clinical case studies, which are included on the accompanying CD. As a further highlight, the latest results of the very recently introduced dual-source CT, which may soon represent the CT technology of choice for cardiac applications, are presented. This book will not only convince the reader that multi-slice cardiac CT has arrived in clinical practice, it will also make a significant contribution to the education of radiologists, cardiologists, technologists, and physicists--whether newcomers, experienced users, or researchers.

In order to assure that the potential of cardiovascular CT will optimally be used for patient care, a continued, strong joint effort...

Cardiac CT Imaging: Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiac CT Imaging: Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Disease
by Matthew J. Budoff (Editor), Jerold S. Shinbane (Editor)

CT is an accurate technique for assessing cardiac structure and function, but advances in computing power and scanning technology have resulted in increased popularity. It is useful in evaluating the myocardium, coronary arteries, pulmonary veins, thoracic aorta, pericardium, and cardiac masses; because of this and the speed at which scans can be performed, CT is even more attractive as a cost-effective and integral part of patient evaluation. This book collates all the current knowledge of...

Cardiac CT Angiography Manual

Cardiac CT Angiography Manual
by Robert Pelberg (Author), Wojciech Mazur (Author)

To date, few, if any, simplified, concise, relatively small and portable books exist to ease the training in the field of cardiac CTA. There are no books written from the point of view of secondary end users who are secondarily trained. Books to date are mainly extensive, large texts that assume a certain basic knowledge. A so called "manual" and reference guide explaining this technique from beginning to end in simple prose will thus be of tremendous value.

CT of the Heart: Principles and Applications (Contemporary Cardiology)

CT of the Heart: Principles and Applications (Contemporary Cardiology)
by U. Joseph Schoepf (Editor)

Leading clinicians and researchers from around the world review the full scope of current developments, research, and scientific controversy regarding the principles and applications of cardiac CT. Richly illustrated with numerous black-and-white and color images, the book discusses the interpretation of CT images of the heart in a variety of clinical, physiological, and pathological applications. The authors emphasize current state-of-the-art uses of CT, but also examine developments at the...
