ESR Spectroscopy in Membrane Biophysics (Biological Magnetic Resonance)

ESR Spectroscopy in Membrane Biophysics (Biological Magnetic Resonance)
by Marcus A. Hemminga (Author), Lawrence J. Berliner (Author)

Spectroscopic methods are not only important as an analytical tool, they also provide information about fundamental physical and chemical properties of molecules, the molecular and electronic structure, and the dynamic behaviour of molecules. Starting from a comprehensive quantum mechanical description, ESR Spectroscopy in Membrane Biophysics introduces the optical (IR, Raman, UV/Vis, CD, fluorescence and laser spectroscopy) and magnetic resonance (1D and 2D-NMR, ESR) techniques.

PET/CT in Clinical Practice

PET/CT in Clinical Practice
by T. B. Lynch (Author), J. Clarke (Contributor), G. Cook (Contributor), S. Hughes (Contributor), M. Love (Contributor), C. Marshall (Contributor), S. Valley (Contributor), L. Wilson (Contributor), S. Woods (Contributor)

PET/CT in Clinical Practice provides guidelines for appropriate use of PET/CT in lung, lymphoma, esophageal, colorectal, head/neck and melanoma, with reference also made to tumors of the male and female reproductive system. Concise, relevant and illustrated with many interesting PET/CT images, each chapter contains a summary of the appropriate staging system. The range of normal PET/CT appearances is outlined in chapter 9. The book focuses on FDG-PET/CT throughout, but chapter 10 makes...

Multi-slice and Dual-source CT in Cardiac Imaging: Principles - Protocols - Indications - Outlook

Multi-slice and Dual-source CT in Cardiac Imaging: Principles - Protocols - Indications - Outlook
by Bernd M. Ohnesorge (Author), Thomas G. Flohr (Author), Christoph R. Becker (Author), Andreas Knez (Author), Maximilian F. Reiser (Author)

Cardiac diseases, and in particular coronary artery disease, are the leading cause of death and morbidity in industrialized countries. The development of non-invasive imaging techniques for the heart and the coronary arteries has been considered a key element in improving patient care. A breakthrough in cardiac imaging using CT occurred in 1998, with the introduction of multi-slice computed tomography (CT). Since then, amazing advances in performance have taken place with scanners that acquire...

EDITORIAL REVIEWS

Product Description
This thoroughly revised second edition succinctly introduces the physics and function of magnetic resonance imaging. All important and clinically relevant aspects are presented in a clearly structured manner. The emphasis is on practical information including the latest trends and developments that are relevant for MRI in the clinical setting. The opening chapters describe the underlying physical principles of the MR experiment and the basic pulse sequences commonly used in clinical MRI. Other chapters are dedicated to more advanced techniques such as parallel imaging and cardiovascular MR imaging. The book is rounded out by chapters on MR contrast media, artifacts, high-field imaging, and safety concerns. An extensive glossary offers rapid access to the most important MRI terminology. The book is intended for readers looking for an easy to understand and concise introduction to this fascinating yet somewhat complex imaging modality at the beginning of their MRI training.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 2 reviews)

Great intermediate handbook by Guerau B. Cabrera (Morgantown, WV) 4 Stars
August 26, 2008
This is a great leaping pad for someone who is unfamiliar with MRI, but comfortable with physics. Although some chapters are a little hard to understand, the good part is all the essentials are put in this little book, so it's easy to carry around town, or the bus, or metro.

Disclaimer by Daniel Nanz 5 Stars
August 10, 2006
I am the author of chapter 11 on Cardiovascular Imaging in the second edition of the book How Does MRI Work?" by Dominik Weishaupt et al. I was not given the opportunity to read the English version of chapter 11 on Cardiovascular Imaging before publication of the English version of the book. Unfortunately, the first press of the English version of chapter 11 on Cardiovascular Imaging, published under my name, contains a multitude of statements that I do not agree with. I believe these statements to deviate from the original German version or to even outright contradict the original German version. I encourage readers to carefully double check critical assertions made in chapter 11 on Cardiovascular Imaging. I consider the responsibility for errors introduced into chapter 11 of the first press of the English version in the process of translation from German to English to lie with the publisher.

Since the first edition of MRI in Practice was published in 1993, the book has become the standard text for radiographers, technologists, radiology residents, radiologists and even sales representatives on the subject of magnetic resonance imaging. This text is essential reading on postgraduate courses. Furthermore, MRI in Practice has come to be known as the number one reference book and study guide in the areas of MR instrumentation, principles, pulse sequences, image acquisition, and imaging...

MRI from Picture to Proton

MRI from Picture to Proton
by Donald W. McRobbie (Author), Elizabeth A. Moore (Author), Martin J. Graves (Author), Martin R. Prince (Author)

MRI from Picture to Proton presents the basics of MR practice and theory in a unique way: backwards! The subject is approached just as a new MR practitioner would encounter MRI: starting from the images, equipment and scanning protocols, rather than pages of physics theory. The reader is brought face-to-face with issues pertinent to practice immediately, filling in the theoretical background as their experience of scanning grows. Key ideas are introduced in an intuitive manner which is faithful...

MRI Made Easy

MRI Made Easy
by Govind B. Chavhan (Author)

MRI Made Easy is an excellent portable pocket guide which can be consulted by the reader when monitoring scans on screen and during interpretations of images. The book is a simple overview of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which explains the fundamentals in a clear, concise manner. It has been written to serve as an introduction to the subject, specifically useful for beginners to MRI, particularly radiology residents. The book is divided into two sections: the first covers basic principles,...

Handbook of MRI Technique

Handbook of MRI Technique
by Catherine Westbrook (Author)

The progress of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a clinical tool has been extraordinary, out-stripping the rate of development of any other imaging technique. There has been a huge increase in the practical applications of MRI techniques and its uses look likely to extend even further with the development of high speed gradients and pulse sequences.

The Handbook of MRI Technique has proved highly successful in guiding the uninitiated through scanning techniques and helping more...
