EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description This atlas-like presentation covers the various faces of melanocytic skin lesions of cutaneous melanomas and other pigmented skin tumors. It encompasses the classical methods of morphology such as the clinical and dermoscopic examination and dermatopathology as well as the most up-to-date diagnostic approaches such as laser scanning in-vivo microscopy and automated diagnosis. The core of this book represents an atlas with excellent clinical, dermoscopic and histopathologic images on melanocytic nevi, various types of melanomas and relevant other pigmented skin tumors including basal-cell carcinomas. Each of these well illustrated entities is presented following the same structure characterized by definition, clinical and dermoscopic features, relevant clinical differential diagnosis as well as practical aspects of management. Core messages will recapitulate the most pertinent facets of each entity. This comprehensive up-to-date text informs the reader on all practical issues of the modern-day management of individuals with melanocytic skin lesions. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 3.0 based on 1 review)
| Review by John (Texas) 3 Stars August 13, 2009 Nice overall review of the dermoscopic findings of pigmented lesions ranging from melanocytic to keratinizing and their various clinical features, histopathology, and management; also with each particular type it provides a few case presentations. However, if you are looking for an "atlas" would consider An Atlas of Dermoscopy by Ashfaq A. Marghoob, Ralph Braun MD, and Alfred W. Kopf (Hardcover - Oct 20, 2004. Although the cost is 3x this item, the "atlas" component is much more thorough. This book does describes the 2-step method for pigmented lesions and contains a nice schematic for benign acral nevi. It also touches on confocal. Overall a nice book, but if you are just learning dermoscopy I would pick another atlas and save this one for later.

| Lever's Histopathology of the Skin by David E Elder (Author), Rosalie Elenitsas (Editor), Bernett L Johnson (Editor), George F Murphy (Editor), Xiaowei Xu (Editor)
Lever's "Histopathology of the Skin" is a classic work that has been used by generations of dermatopathologists, pathologists, and dermatologists to further their knowledge, in their current practices, and in the training of their own students. The pathophysiologic organization used in the book is based on Walter Lever's original scheme, with appropriate modifications over the years, and is more efficient than the pattern method, since related entities are discussed in juxtaposition, instead of...
