Product Description
Following his stunning photo-safari in Africa and an unprecedented helicopter voyage from Europe to Africa in Eyes Over Africa, the award-winning photographer has ventured to the polar regions. With his inimitable blend of intimate close-ups and cinematic landscapes, Poliza leads us through the magical worlds of these frozen paradises most threatened by global warming. Poliza shows polar bears as they frolicked among purple fireweed against the majestic Arctic backdrop, varied and multicolored icebergs, as well as a number of rare and endangered species. Poliza once again captures the most vulnerable treasures--still ensconced in our planet's few pristine landscapes.

I Still Can Not Get Over Poliza's Work... by AmaFan (Everywhere) 5 Stars
November 24, 2009
My family and I just returned from a trip to the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. We saw Gentoo, Adelie, Chinstrap and one King Penguin. Beautiful. These truly are magnificent shots. I almost feel I can relive my trip by turning the pages to view the pictures. I recommend this book as an inspiration for the discouraged or a wonderful surprise gift for the Holidays -- I know how happy this book made me. For the more sophisticated, it raises awareness to what could so easily be lost and threatened by global warming... I only wish others will return the favor and give others the same sense of awe that I experienced.

Beauty by Ken J. Siman 5 Stars

This is a full color adventure in itself and a testament to the astounding beauty of both Antarctica and the Arctic. Poliza's portraits of seals, walruses, caribou -- and the most exquisite photos I have ever seen of polar bears and penguins -- are so intimate that it appears as if Poliza has actually befriended his subjects. His photos of glaciers, spirals of ice -- what he does with light! -- approach the surreal. This sumptuous coffee table book took me (and my coffee table) on an unforgettable trip.

I love this book. I buy photography books on regions that are fast disappearing and the photographs captured more than made me happy I have this book.

Not the quality I expected by G. Scott 2 Stars

I was really looking forward to this book, the preview shots were stunning, I was very disappointed. There are just too many "average" photographs in the book to make it worthwhile. I say "average" as a comparison to the pictures in Africa and Eyes over Africa which were both magnificent.

Polar Obsession

Polar Obsession
by Paul Nicklen (Author)

Product Description
The Arctic is in Paul Nicklen’s blood. Born and raised on Baffin Island, Nunavut, he grew up in one of the only non-Inuit families in a tiny native settlement amid the ice fields, floes, and frigid seas of Northern Canada. At an age when most children are playing hide-and-seek, he was learning life-and-death lessons of survival: how to read the weather, find shelter in a frozen snowscape, or live off the land as his Inuit neighbors had done for centuries.
