better processing of information than by Wikipedia by VDM Verlag Dr.Müller 5 Stars
August 12, 2009
Nearly all media worldwide - such as newspapers, magazines, TV - use internet for their researches and as a basis for their texts. This is exactly what Alphascript publishing does. And we go even further: with the Wikipedia-texts at free disposal we create books on interesting topics. There is hardly another platform for quick and better processing of information than by Wikipedia - and this is too for the benefit of the Alphascript publishing-readers who want to be informed on a specific subject. Of course you can have online everything free of charge, but for good reason you have decided for a book. Alphascript publishing is internet in form of a book. There can hardly be a faster process.

Not a good book for blind OR sighted people... by M (Gnawing away at your reality) 1 Stars

All content within this book is copied directly off Wikipedia. This IS mentioned within the book itself, but is not mentioned here on its Amazon page. (sneaky!) Not only is this book entirely copypasta, it is not edited at all or even proofread. There are arrows by certain words (which had been links on the Wikipedia website) as well as missing characters (from foreign languages) and all articles are slapped together in a hodgepodge manner, with no real organization, and is not a good book on blindness and eyes. From the Alphascript website itself... "Career - We are an established business that is constantly growing. Thus, we are regularly recruiting qualified staff with the most diverse areas of expertise." Wait a minute? Qualified staff? Diverse expertise? The people listed as editors on this book (and all the others by Alpha) are editors in name only - they don't even bother cleaning up the Wikipedia articles that they copypasta. It takes minimal effort to highlight a text and right-click Copy and right-click again to Paste. It takes no expertise in any subject to copypaste, and many of their books have a hodgepodge of poorly organized articles - someone with actual expertise would have been able to organize material in a coherent and clean manner, at least. Any optometrist or anyone else that works with eyes and vision in general can tell you that this is a bad and poorly organized book. There are so many wonderful free resources out there - Wikipedia, blindness sites, eyecare sites, etc, and plenty of good books on eyes and all eye-related material right here on Amazon.
