good book, but the method doesn't work by Van Den Broek  3 Stars

I bought this book and read it through twice. It is a bit cheaply produced and printed (ugly font, etc) but it is clearly written and quite informative. The book contains an excellent description of how the digestive system works.
The downside is that the described "gall stone cleanse" does not work. The one big flaw in the explanation in the book is that the "stones" are assumed to be gallstones, which is "proven" by showing a chemical analysis that states that the stones, being predominantly fatty substance, with some gall salts and other stuff, having come through the bowels, must therefore be gallstones. It would have been better had the type of fat been determined to actually be cholesterol. I now doubt that it was...
Using ultrasound, I was diagnosed as having a single gallstone, about 1/2 by 3/8 inch. I followed the method in the book to the letter, but the results I got differed from the expected results as described in the book. Consuming the pint of olive oil and half pint of lemon juice was easy enough, though I wouldn't do it for fun. I later proceeded to pass about a pint and a bit of gooey, yellow poo, which smelled of olive oil and lemon, and which contained greenish and brown lumps, which were supposed to be gallstones. The following day I did not feel good and had absoultely no energy (as you might expect after juice-fasting for a couple of days and then consuming a pint and a half of oil and lemon juice), whereas the book predicted I ought to feel great and energetic. After a couple of days my strength and wellbeing returned to exactly the same levels as before the "treatment". The clincher, however, was that a subsequent ultrasound confirmed that the gallstone was still there...

My wife used the VERY simple directions in this book to pass her gall stones. In one evening, her gallstones came out... a handful! It's not painful, it's not difficult, nobody makes money on this cure except the guy who's trying to get $85 for this very slim volume. He must be joking!

I don't have any dire symptoms, but will follow the book myself as soon as I get the chance... my wife was glowing after the stones were out, and said she felt GREAT.
