EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description This solar charger has one 12V cigarette lighter outlet for you to attach any car adapter to recharge your cell phones, I-Pod, MP3 Players, and other electronics devices. It even can recharge a 12V car battery. It recharges the 10 rechargeable AA NIMH or NICD batteries in about 4 hours (batteries not included). The energy stored in the batteries can be used to continue charging your cell phone even in the dark.
There are three types of Solar Cells on the market. All our Solar chargers are using the best - Mono-Crystalline Solar Cells.
Amorphous or Dual Junction Solar Glass are the cheapest but are only 7% energy efficient and have 5 years of service life. They are big and heavy.
Poly-Crystalline have 25 plus years of service life under direct sunlight and are 13% efficient.
Mono-Crystalline have 25 plus years of service life and are up to 20% efficient. This is the same type used in solar car racing or the solar airplane. This type of solar cells is now in a worldwide shortage because only a few companies can manufacture these solar cells.
This bag charger is using the best Siemens mono-crystalline solar cells. It is currently in a worldwide shortage and it is getting more expensive. |

| Good product - But battery case is not durable enough for my location by Sui Wah Ma (Houston, TX) 3 Stars July 02, 2009 When I received the product just over 3 weeks ago I was really excited about this product, it was something that I could use on the road. I purchased it because I wanted to be able to recharge AA batteries and not be worried about having to be close to a mains socket.
Anyway I have used this product maybe 6 or 7 times leaving the solar panels out in the sun for around 6 hours at a time to make sure it fully charges the batteries. The issue I have is that the battery compartment that holds the 10 rechargeable batteries slowly starts to warp in the sun without myself knowing. To the point where the plastic casing starts to bend a little, its at the point where my batteries can no longer guarantee good placement in the casing the batteries cannot reliable touch the contacts in the compartment without popping out. This is because the batteries are being pushed out from the casing. It's very annoying.. I can no longer place my batteries in the battery holder now to recharge, because each time I put it in it pops back out again.
I'm trying to look for a replacement battery compartment that is compatible with this solar kit.
Other then that the product works great, but the case appears to warp in the sun when used out for prolonged periods. Maybe it's the location I'm in "Houston, TX" it has been hot lately and maybe the constant 100 degrees heat killed the battery casing...
Not happy....

| | dont waste your money by russianbrother (montana) 1 Stars October 03, 2007 It charges AA batteries just fine but you cant put an inverter on it to run a radio. I tried and it doesnt work. There are other solar powered battery chargers that charge all different sized batteries.Thats what I should of bought instead. All this is good for is chargeing AA batteries and that is it.I use the inverter in my car to charge my cell phone when im on the road.I dont know how you can charge a car battery with this thing when the cigarette lighter on the panel is a female fitting and wont fit in the cigarette lighter unless there are alagator clips with a male plug on the end of them. even so you would be hanging around your car for about 8 hours waiting for the panel to charge the car battery.
