The Sony ICF-C318 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio with Dual Alarm has a 0.9" green LED display that is easily viewable from across the room, but takes up very little space on your nightstand. It hosts a number of features including automatic time set, automatic Daylight Savings Time adjustment, dual alarm, built-in calendar, AM/FM tuner and full power memory back up. The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. Dual alarms with individual alarm indicators let you set two separate wake-up times with differing wake-up settings. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so when the power returns you don't have to re-set the clock.

I've used this radio for about 5 years. It has no negatives! The sound is excellent. It picks up remote stations with a minimum of static and the sound carries the 30 feet to the bedroom from the kitchen table. The alarm will wake the dead even from this distance. The radio, alarms and clock are easy to program from the buttons on the top --- throw away the manual, you won't need it. The dial is easy to read and this radio is cheap. I was happy with the features until I realized that the lithium battery was dead. Now the great deal is not great at all because I have to buy a lithium battery.

Take it out of the box and plug it in. The time is already set. Just set the alarm time. Now, was that hard? This was so easy to activate and use that I thought maybe there was a catch lurking somewhere, but I was wrong. The main reason I bought the Sony was because of the dimmer option, which works as advertised. And I am thrilled that it solved that annoying brightness enigma. I no longer have to turn my alarm around or put anything over it to block the light. Bravo!!! The lithium 2032 battery is used as backup power during a surge or whatever. Nice product. Not too big, not too small.

I bought one of these in black. It's nice looking and it works just fine. The buzzer alarm could be louder, and so when I want a louder alarm I set it to turn on the radio and I pre-set the volume to a level that I know will wake me. I keep the numbers lit on the lower brightness setting and I have had no problem at all reading the time from different angles. I think this is the easiest to set of any alarm clocks I've ever owned. So that the reader who is considering purchasing one of these sight unseen, other than for photos, can visualize the footprint of this alarm clock radio, I took a plastic gallon milk container (same size and shape as plastic gallon water bottles) out of the fridge and held the bottom of it over the Sony. The container bottom covers it, which is to say that the Sony's footprint is a little bit smaller than that of a standard plastic gallon container. That's about how much area it takes up on a nightstand. The unit angles back from the clock face to the rear, and at the highest point it's a bit under 3 1/2 inches high. That's a good size for me, because with smaller clock radios and my reading glasses off, I have to put my face close to them to read them. The radio sound quality is not high fidelity, of course, but it's not bad for a clock radio in this price range. It's fine for listening to talk - news, etc. - and is adequate for listening to music set to a sleep timer when drifting off to sleep.
