I found this very easy to use and very informative. I immediately plugged it into everyday items and found that things like my refrigerator weren't my biggest problem. I found a fan that we use at night, used a lot of power to operate on a daily basis and it's a problem. I was using it right out of the box without a hitch. Granted, if you want to see something in realtime, depending on where the outlet is or how your extension cord runs, it maybe tough - but what's the point - once you are done, plug it into a place where you can read the display and look at the data to be amazed. I recommend this product.

The monitor arrived as promised in a clam shell package which was more than adequate. As many others have noted, the display is difficult to read while plugged into the wall and it must be plugged in to read. So all I did was plug it into a 4 foot 20 amp extension cord and then plug whatever into the monitor normally. Then problem solved. Although the unit will give you cost / time interval, I was interested in KW / hour as I am trying to trim our total KW's used. So to get this, I entered a cost of $9.99 / KW and then all I needed to do was to move a decimal point to get the KW / hour that I was looking for. I used $9.99 instead of $1.00 because I wanted to be able to get the maximum number of decimal places and even though there is a small variation, the error is acceptable and within a couple of thousandths of a KW. So I guess with round off error, I could just use the $1.00 and be done with it. But I digress... Anyway, I have not had any issues with the monitor yet. I do treat it with TLC since so many others have reported issues with the quality of the unit. From my point of view, it does what it says it does.

Easy to use right out of the box. Works as advertised. The super saver shipping was as slow as molasses 11 Days total. I paid 34.95 at Amazon and the day I recieved it I went to Costco by coincidence and they had it for 26 bucks no waiting, go figure.
But I think it's a great little device. Buy 2 of them though because someone always wants to borrow it.
