Laser products promoted for pointing and demonstration purposes are limited to hazard Class IIIa by FDA regulation. 21 CFR (b) and (c), limit surveying, leveling, and alignment, and demonstration laser products to Class IIIa. This means that pointers are limited to 5 milliwatts output power in the visible wavelength range from 400 to 710 nanometers. There are also limits for any invisible wavelengths and for short pulses. Pointers may not exceed the accessible emission limits of CDRH Class IIIa or IEC1 Class 3R. Can battery-operated, portable laser systems be sold in the U.S? Very nice! by Justin Harris (Virginia) 5 Stars

I purchased this laser after purchasing a more expensive laser expecting it to be better. It wasn't! This laser is very good quality and at a very good price. It will burn through thin black plastic such as trash bags. It will also pop dark colored balloons. I have not tried lighting a match with it yet. The laser seems to be well made, the only noticeable imperfection to it is that you can hear the batteries moving around a bit inside if you shake it. Other than that, this is highly recommended but remember it is not a toy and should be used safely.

If you're looking at lasers and found this, chances are you're better off going to Wicked Lasers. This is nothing more than a green pointer... doesn't do anything more.

It does exactly what I need by Grey Eagle (Maine) 5 Stars

I'm on a Search and Rescue Team and needed something to point the precise direction for other team members to follow so we could cover an exact course. This works perfectly for me as it's bright enough for use in the daytime and like a powerfull beacon at night. I read the negative comments and while I don't know if the power is as advertised, it's certainly sufficient for my use. The red lasers are ok for night but not strong enough for daytime use. It must be used with great care though due to the possibility of eye damage.

Not a 100mw laser by William M. Parsley (USA) 1 Stars

I own two 5mW green lasers that cost in the range of $70-80. This "100mW" laser appears to have about 1/3 the beam of my lasers. Still, it is not a bad price, but also not a 100mW laser. Don't know what some of the other posters have received but they are clearly different than mine.

10mW Blue Violet Laser Presentation Pointer
by Generic

Blue lasers are on the cutting edge of consumer laser pointers. This beautiful blue-violet laser is more pleasing to look at than red or green! Please note, because the human eye is more sensitive to green than to blue, this laser pointer will appear less bright than a similar green one. However, the milliwatt output is factory-calibrated and accurate. In daylight or bright places, the blue laser will be more difficult to see. In darkness, it is still bright and perfect for use in...
