EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description A thoughtful gift for people with a meditation or yoga practice, the versatile Enso Clock can be programmed with up to 99 sequential timers. The countdown timer features a visual onscreen circle, and the alarm uses soothing chimes of Tibetan singing bowls. 3" diameter; 0.8" thick. Made in China. Enso, which means circle in Japanese, symbolizes enlightenment, elegance, and the universe. Traditionally, the enso is painted with a single clockwise brushstroke, beginning and ending at the bottom. The central deplay feature of the Enso Clock is the painted circle that surrounds the screen and is gradually brushed onscreen as the timer progresses. This way, the user can glance at the Enso and see the relative amount of time that has elapsed, eliminating the distraction of focusing on the exact numerical time that remains. Features: Includes carrying pouch and two AAA batteries Display lights with the press of a button Low-battery symbol on clock face will tell you when to replace the batteries Four sound choices Countdown timing, interval timing, and alarm Countdown Timing The Enso Clock can be used as a simple countdown timer to time your meditation, yoga, Reiki, or therapy sessions. Simply press the Timer button, set the amount of time in Hours, Minutes, and Seconds, and press the Green Start button. The circle begins to paint indicating how much of the entire time has passed. CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 21 reviews)
| This is with respect to my Yoga Practice by Eva Schwanner-housman 3 Stars October 07, 2009 Hello, I use this timer very day and I enjoy for everything from one minute upwards. What bothers me is that you cannot time 30 seconds with it, because that is what I need for the famous Iyenga Yoga postures also, I hold some postures for 30 seconds some for a minute and some for 5 minutes. For the 30 second ones unfortunately I need another timer.....
| | Wonderful little timer by Avona Trigg 5 Stars September 03, 2009 I would like to add a few things to the other great reviews.
My timer came with tactile back-lighting, stop and snooze buttons, a noticeable upgrade from what the other reviews describe. Thus you can now turn the alarm off without sight.
The manual is quite simple, such that I do not understand the other reviewers' previous problems with this product. Press alarm, then + or - and then the green start (or red stop to cancel out). It's the same operation regardless of the option: volume, clock, timer, etc. The > buttons are used to program intervals and alarm sounds. Simple and intuitive. As was indicated by other reviewers, you may not set fractions of minutes, so if you require that, beware.
It comes with a case and the manual fits with the timer inside the case. It's all very elegant and aesthetically pleasing. The included sounds are two chimes, one small wood drum (which plays a roll down plus 5 more beats) and a digital alarm sound. I, too, thought it a bit weird that the "hide display" option doesn't actually hide everything... It only hides the time, though the rest of the indicators stay lit: enso, enso circle, play indicator, graphic time remaining and alarm indicator.
The only disadvantages that I've noticed, I consider very minor. The face is made of flexible plastic. I would have liked it to feel solid. Also, the buttons feel loose, though I've had no problems with operating the timer and they don't feel so loose that they would be problematic later.
I did some research and this appears to be the best meditation timer to be found atm. I'm frugal when it comes to money, so for me to buy a $99 timer is a big deal, my previous timer being a $5 timer from goodwill that works wonderfully. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like the timer and how... effective it is for its purpose, whatever that may be.
| | Exactly what I needed for my AYP sessions by Roger Sluder (Roanoke, VA United States) 5 Stars August 21, 2009 I just received this timer yesterday, and it does everything that I had hoped it would to assist me in my Advanced Yoga Practices (check out Advanced Yoga Practices: Easy Lessons for Ecstatic Living or visit [...]) pranayama and meditation sessions. There must have been some enhancements made to this product since some of the reviews here were written. Specifically, the Enso symbol on the button is now raised, making it easy to find the backlight in the dark. The backlight automatically comes on a few seconds before each interval chime, which someone had listed as a like-to-have. I was truely amazed how realistic the singing bowl tone (tone 1) sounds. It is definitely my favorite. In addition to perfectly timing each phase of my session, it gives me the feeling of meditating in a secluded monastery high in the Himalayas! My only regret it that I didn't find out about this product sooner.
| | Salubrion Enso Timer by Catherine E. Johnson 5 Stars July 25, 2009 I just received the Enso Timer. It is exactly as described. The included instructions were easy to follow (Salubrion also has instructions available on its website; these are very detailed, clear and easy to follow).
I tested all chimes. They are crisp and clear. I was able to set intervals for my meditation sessions and also for my 10 minute exercise sets.
A zippered pouch is also included (this pouch carries the clock and the instruction manual).
I think the overall design is quite efficient considering what this timer was designed for. It is a little pricey, but comparable to the price for other timers in this class.
| | Love it by Marlene D. Bullock (phx sz) 5 Stars July 13, 2009 I was pleasantly surprised to receive my Meditation timer so quickly!!! Programing it was super easy and quick!! The little book that came with it totally walks you thru the set up and tweeking. I adjusted the timer to my liking also. It also cam with a nice little padded case for it. I totally recommend this product to anyone with meditation practices that have more than one interval in them.. Program your intervals and forget about the clock and go deep!! Enjoy!!

| The Middle Way: Faith Grounded in Reason by Dalai Lama (Author), Geshe Thupten Jinpa (Translator)
For nearly 2,000 years, Nagarjuna's teachings have occupied a central position in Mahayana Buddhism. An essential part of the study and practice in the great Indian Buddhist monastic universities, these teachings were later incorporated into the Tibetan monastic programs that modeled their curricula on their Indian predecessors. In The Middle Way, the Dalai Lama offers a brief, brilliant, and complete presentation of the ultimate view of reality in the Mahayana tradition of Buddhism. The...

| Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English: An Introductory guide to Deeper States of Meditation by Bhante Henepola Gunaratana (Author)

In Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English, he presents the levels of concentration with the same simplicity and...

| Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism (Shambhala Library) by Chogyam Trungpa (Author), Sakyong Mipham (Foreword)
In this modern spiritual classic, the Tibetan meditation master Chögyam Trungpa highlights a common pitfall to which every aspirant on the spiritual path falls prey: what he calls spiritual materialism. The universal human tendency, he shows, is to see spirituality as a process of self-improvement—the impulse to develop and refine the ego when the ego is, by nature, essentially empty. “The problem,” Trungpa says, “is that ego can convert anything to its own use, even spirituality.”...
