This drive has a large capacity and runs very quietly. The main selling point for me was/is the on/off switch. I use this for manual, offline backup of my system. Although it is constantly hooked up via the usb cable I generally have the drive OFF. I only turn it on when I want to run a backup or a restore. It cannot be compromised with a virus or accidental deletion if it the hard drive is not spinning. Hopefully this will also extend its MTBF. I know that there is a school of thought that says drives work harder with more starting and stopping versus constantly running. However, I am not sure that it applies to a drive that is turned on perhaps once a week for a couple of hours versus running about 16 hours /day. I am very satisfied with the product.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. The case is built with the expectation that you will probably throw it in your backpack and haul it everywhere you take your laptop. Really quiet drive, I had to touch it to convince myself that it was running, a slight vibration meant it was on! I use it to store my music and videos that were clogging up my on-board hard drive. I have recommended it to my friends.
