The idea behind this item sounds great being able to stream wirelessly around the house but the idea was not a reality in my house. I never got to find out how well it works since it would never connect for me. My router only has one ethernet port that goes to my computer since I use a wireless broadband card that connects to my router. I have no way of running two between my computer and the HAVA. According to the directions I would not have a problem in fact it is recommended to use wireless first in the directions. I tried for two to three hours straight and nothing worked be it troubleshooting, searching internet forums and everything I knew to do. I mean absolutely nothing worked but the machine worked itself just the connection was the problem. I could never find it on my network nor anywhere else and I know how to set up a network so the item is not as simple as the directions put it. If you are new to this than the directions are gonna be light in the first place since it is just basically a quick start pamphlet. The price point is nice for an item like this and wireless makes it even better so if it would have worked for me it probably would of been great.

I've ordered this device so I csn stream my cable while on my family vacation and love the idea that you did not have to hook this device up directly to the router but via wireless. My idea of streaming cable while away from my house could not be experienced due to the device came up with an "IR Error" during instalation and could not work. Tried calling the customer service department at Hava and they told me that I needed to go out and buy a new power supply. I just received this unit and for the customer service to tell me to go out and buy a power supply when I just received the unit. Ask why couldn't they just send me a new one, they ask if I brought it from them. I told them that I received it from amazon and they told me to either go buy the power supply or return it. I was going on another trip so I decided to give the unit another chance and ask Amazon to send me a new one in which they did. Received the new one and it installed in about 20 minutes. Picture was nice while it was running. While at the airport wainting on my flight, I decided to look at Ohio State vs. Navy. Logged into my box and was enjoying the game until I recieved a "Memory Error" then my laptop crashed. Tried to reboot my laptop but could not. Had to do a hard restart then my operating system had to run a "Startup" restore program. Once my system was able to bootup, I imediately remove the Hava program from my laptop and now my system is running perfect.
My suggestion is to stay away from this unit because of poor customer service and poor device.

This was very easy to install and start to use. I like that I can put the viewer software on multiple computers. Now we can watch our digital recordings on the back porch!
The only thing I wish for is a USB or SD Card slot on the Hava. It allows you to time-shift record if you hook a hard drive directly into the Hava. I do not have enough room to put one where the Hava is located. If I could hook up a thumb drive or slide in an SD, it would be perfect.
The recording software is way easier than anything else I have used in the past. Picture and sound are as good as the original.

i received it on a friday (fast delivery)
hooked up could have been easier. initially i was very impressed and excited about this product. however, within the first two hours of use, the remote control feature stopped working. and it would only work if i was within 3 feet of the cable box. without the remote control feature, this product is just a digital recorder. if that wasn't bad enough, the next night i turned the system off while i went to bed. the hava box gets extremely hot.
well i woke up this morning and the system cannot connect to my wireless system. it is frustrating and should not be this difficult to get this system to work. i have reseted to factory setting, removed and reinstalled the software. unplugged and plugged the cables. Nothing works. i feel like i totally wasted my money, worst yet, i wasted my time with this device. if the system worked as it should, it would be an excellent system. but this has been so far dissapointing. The only way i can get a signal is if i connect directly into a modem. even with that, the video stream is terrible. it freezes and the remote control don't work.
it should be noted that i have a laptop with windows xp. other reviewers have mentioned that they have had a problem using a windows xp laptop. i guess i should have listened to them.

This is way better than the Slingbox. Works well. The only bad part is the installation which took a while because of Software and Firmware updates. After getting everything setup, the unit is awesome.
