| Decent quality but not sure it's worth the cost by Outdoor (Rice Lake, WI USA) 3 Stars October 14, 2009 The quality of the Skullcandy earbuds is good however the cost of $30+ is overpriced. I've picked up some $9 earbuds with very similar sound quality. The miniplug is difficult to grab onto, especially if your fingers have a small amount of oil on them such as from hand lotion, fast food, etc. Therefore, there is a tendency to remove the plug by yanking on the cord - causing the cord to break. A better design, such as a 90 degree miniplug or a rubberized grip would improve this without destroying a $30 pair of earbuds the second time you use them. The 90 degree miniplug also fits snugly along the bottom of my iPhone or an iTouch, giving a better overall end-user experience and requiring less room than a long, straight miniplug. My overall "value" rating (on a scale of 1 to 10) is a 5 - average.
| | Expected better from Skullcandy by E. Carter (Edge of Reality) 1 Stars October 07, 2009 I bought the Skullcandy TiTan Earbuds (Dark Grey) -- I like Skullcandy and own several pairs. However these down right suck. Sorry can't say it any other way. Yes, they are pretty. Yes, they are very comfortable. HOWEVER, at $40 I expect far better sound quality than these provided. Their 12$ head phones sound better than these. The sound is weak and gravely. They are susceptible to any minor frequency interference from key-boards, monitors and cell phones. Worst of all is their ability to randomly deliver a static shock to your inner ear. OUCH!!!! Skullcandy, are you listening! You're making a name for yourself. Don't add inconstancy and shotty to that name.
| | Great for the $$ by W. Stewart (Long Island, New York, USA) 4 Stars September 30, 2009 These sound very good for what they cost, and even sound better than buds costing much more. You need to use the foams to get the best sound out of them though. They are well constructed, although I think there may be some quality control issues:
1. One bud came apart shortly after purchasing. It looked completely intact, just that the glue at the seam didn't hold. One drop of Krazy Glue solved this.
2. The volume control on mine doesn't make good contact in every position on the slider. Solved by wiggling the slider around.
Even with those two issues, I would still buy them again. They really sound great & do a good job of isolating (with foams). There is almost no isolation when using the rubber caps instead of the foams.
| | Pretty Damn Awesome. by J. P. Kennedy-till (Auckland, NZ) 4 Stars September 11, 2009 I've had many different headphones, varying from top-of-the-line Seinheisers and average TDK's. For my birthday, i finally got a pair of earbuds i loved. These TiTANS are epic. I also have a pair of lowriders for dj-ing, and actually found that the Bass and total sound quality was far superior in the TiTANS. The only reason that these don't get five stars from me is that the jack and the wire have become disconnected. But luckily thanks to Skullcandy's awesome warranty, I'm getting my new ones in a couple of days. :)
| | Style and substance all in one (model number S2TTBZ-CZ) by asdfasdfasdfasdf 5 Stars September 09, 2009 Pros
- Unique, "see-through" cable
- Very little feedback from wire movement (at least in model S2TTBZ-CZ)
- Inline volume control
- Included mesh case
- Quality crafted metal housings for buds, volume control, and connector
- Excellent, clear sound quality (in my non-audiophile opinion)
- Affordable price ($25 at Amazon)
- Includes two pairs noise cancelling Comply Foam Tips
- Chrome color almost never scratches off
- Many color options
- Awesome looking!
Cons
- Only one size of silicone tips (medium)
- Paint on non-Chrome colors wears
- Not much else
Although the Skullcandy brand may associated with low-quality, teenage-style looks, these Titans are an exception. I haven't had any issues with durability or wire feedback in my three months use, so I have no problem recommending these earbuds. Don't be afraid to give these a try; and for $25, it surely won't break the bank. Remember to buy the later models with model numbers like S2TTBZ-CZ, since earlier ones don't have volume control and a cool wire.
