This translator serves as a handy speaking tool for international travellers and tourists.
It allows the user to cross translate 12 international languages and each language stores 700 commonly used travelling topic sentences.
You'll be able to communicate easily and quickly in a foreign country.
Simply select the language, topic of conversation, and sentence you would like to speak using the LCD display.
The translator will display the sentence in the original language (usually English) and speak the sentence in the desired foreign language.
Handheld electronic translators are the modern answer to paper dictionaries.
They are smaller, fashionable and you only need one in order to speak many languages!
Since this device speaks the phrases aloud, you can be sure you are pronouncing foreign words correctly, making for a more enjoyable holiday or business trip.
Supplied with protective carry pouch including strap, the translator cross translates 12 International languages - English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Swedish, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) and Turkish and you can save frequently used sentences.
Words are spoken and displayed and the translator includes 8 frequently required categories: General, Emergency, Entertainment, Sightseeing, Direction, Restaurants, Transport and Hotel.
The device also features a world time daily alarm clock and calendar for 24 cities, and the display shows hour, minutes, day, date and month.
A built-in data-file stores up to 60 sets of phone numbers (with names) with a password security lock.
The translator has an LCD display with adjustable contrast, volume level selection (3 levels), key tone on/off switch, auto power off and display backlight which can be turned off to preserve batteries.

I bought this because it gives a good price for the features, other models cost over $99.00 for the similar functions. It is working good and we like it so far, however, we did purchase this for a christmas gift for my son so we have not had time yet to use it at length. We plan on posting another review after the holidays. So far so good.

This little machine does what I expected it to do: that is talk in one of the 12 different native languages/phrases that are commonly used as a tourist. Not looking for one that you can type in words/phrases free forms then translate to a native language. Those would be much more expensive and perhaps weight more. Also not sure how accurate the translation will be in ALL instance. Since I already spoke fluently one of the 12 languages I listened to that language and found the pronunciation and translation very accurate. So I assume the rest of 11 languages should have the same consistency.
I am basically using this very portable but seemed to be solidly built machine whenever I am driving or doing my walking/exercise to learn enough since I am embarking on foreign trips soon. I know I am not going to be fluent for everyday conversation with any native speaker even if I mastered all the phrases in the machine. But to me my purpose of knowing a few phrases is a courtesy to the countries I am visiting that I am making an effort to learn their language and from my experience in foreign travel the native people appreciate it.
So I recommend this little gadget for its price (under $40) and portability and sturdiness.

I visited France, Italy, and Spain. The areas of Italy I visited were Venice, Florence, Tuscany, and Rome. English is spoken very well in these areas so not necessary to use a translator. In Spain I visited Malaga, Rhonda, and Sevilla....there was a little bit of English and assistance would have been good. France, English is very little so it would have been extremely beneficial. However, as I discovered with this devise is that is states in in the language you are in, but what happens is that the people responding reply in their language so you have no idea what they are saying unless they use the device to reply which presents another problem all in itself. Pointing and drawing maps for directions was so much less frustrating. I still have the device so if there is a way that someone can tell me how to use it to be beneficial, that would be great!
