Un pequeño receptor by Jose Ram Rodriguez Vazquez 4 Stars

Sorry Buzz, I wouldn't put your name on this one. by J. LeVasseur (Vancouver, WA United States) 2 Stars

Received the radio. All looked as expected based on the prior reviews. Slipped some batteries into the unit but it didn't work. Plugged in the AC adapter and the radio powered up. Positive terminal battery connector looked loose and probably not making the connection for battery operation. Useless to me without portable operation. I tried all the bands with the AC adaptor. The air band was pretty bad as expected but I didn't have a chance to use it near any airports. I'm a private pilot and actually bought this particular unit to pick up ASOS/AWOW/ATIS information before hopping in the airplane. Also wanted this unit for casual SWL. Picking up all sorts of noise in the house making it useless for even regular AM radio. I have other transistor radios in the house that work fine for AM so I blame this unit for not handling that. I also have an ICOM IC-725 transceiver that works fine for SWL (and amateur radio operation) in the house as well as a 1950 National HRO-50 that works well for SWL as well. I can't recommend this unit if you intend to change batteries often (poor battery connection hardware). I also cannot recommend this radio for anything but country usage for AM or SWL. FM appeared to be OK but pretty expensive for an FM broadcast only receiver.

Diminutive Size, Great Little Radio by C. MacGuyer (RI) 5 Stars
September 24, 2009
This is another great radio from Grundig. The tinyness of this radio is quite something, and I would have to say its most relevant point. It works quite well for its size even on SSB. A twin coil for MW and/or long wire would do wonders for reception. Aside from its novel size, I like this radio. It works well and fun to use. Don't expect outstanding performance from compact radios, you need to put them in perspective to there cost, size, and manufacturers experiance with shortwave radios. When you add in the AM air band to this little guy, you get a really great tiny radio! Recommended for tiny radios.

Smallest Portable With SSB? by jr_Tech (Portland OR. area) 4 Stars

This is an amazing radio for its size! Until now, my favorite radio when space is limited has been the Kaito 1102 which has SSB and is a little less expensive. Kaito KA1102 AM/FM Shortwave SSB Radio, Black Kaito KA1102 - Worldband radio. This radio also adds aircraft band performance, and is easier to use and smaller than the 1102. It is nearly as sensitive. Tough choice between the two. IF SSB (and aircraft band) is not required: Kaito Pocket-Size PLL Synthesized AM/FM Shortwave Radio, KA11 Very Small! Kaito KA1101 - Worldband radio Slightly larger, but better!

Looks nice but doesn't work by Jon F. Kelly (USA) 1 Stars

Based on the generally very good reviews, bought this radio as a present for someone. Tried to operate it today, on both AC and battery, and all we get is apparently 1/2 of the date/time screen. Time is set at 12:00 and clock starts to work, but nothing else. Tried the reset button several times. Even read the manual. Any suggestions?

This antenna will improve the reception on the shortwave bands for any portable shortwave radio. The antenna works with radios that have an external mini jack. This works really well for the pocket shortwave radios and it increases the reception stability very much. This antenna is extremely compact and weighs very little so it's great for travel especially in a hotel room. Just plug it into the radio, extend the 23 foot wire from the reel and clip it to a high curtain or similar near a window...
