CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 202 reviews)
| Nice TV, but not for channel surfers by Randym 4 Stars November 30, 2009 I bought this TV to put next to my computer. It replaced an old 13" CRT TV that was on its last legs.
Overall, I'm pleased with it. It's light, nice-looking, and easy to set up. The default settings work well, and if you want to change them, it's pretty easy to figure out how. There's a "game" button that lets you switch to other inputs - not just game systems, but a VCR, DVR, camcorder, etc. - whatever you want to hook up. The built-in DVD player works well and is easy to use.
With flatscreen prices dropping every day, the cost might be a bit high. But the main drawback is the slowness mentioned in other reviews. It is very slow to turn on, and very slow when you change channels. I can't blame it on my cable box, because I don't use one. (I plug the coax cable directly into the TV.) I can live with it, but you're the type who loves to channel-surf, the slowness will drive you bonkers.
| | Toshiba TV/DVD 15.6- Inch by Shelby (FL, USA) 3 Stars November 30, 2009 I was very happy with the Toshiba TV/DVD when I first got it. I bought the TV approx. 6 months ago. A couple of months later the TV started to mute it self and the only way to un-mute it was to change the channel. Now not everything on the remote works.
| | Good but.... by Fernando Testa (Stamford, Connecticut United States) 3 Stars November 29, 2009 I purchased this TV in march for $199 expecting it would read my DIVX videos, but none of them worked. Switching channels also take a little longer than other TV's, but overall it is a good unit except for the DIVX playback.
| | Kitchen tv by Compeled (Peabody, MA USA) 4 Stars November 17, 2009 I looked for a tv to replace an old panasonic 9" for our kitchen. This tv was a great choice, very very satisfied.
| | This is NOT a Divx player! by Dr Winston O'Boogie (just outta Yosemite) 1 Stars November 08, 2009 Just unboxed one, plugged it in, and it will NOT read Divx discs (i.e. avi files) I have tried dvd-r and dvd+r discs, just to make sure it was not a compatability problem.
Unfortunately, the Divx feature was the ONLY reason that I chose this TV over any other. I have not called Toshiba's hotline (it's Saturday night.) but I am not expecting any great outcome.
Other than that, the picture and sound are fine for a 17" tv. But the Divx selling point was THE MOST important feature to me, and hot having the feature is a deal breaker for me.
