Able planet headset by Bart Siedlecki (Rutgers, New Brunswick) 5 Stars

These head phones can not be beat for the performance they give. Quality is excellent, as is sound quality. They do an awesome job of eliminating droning, background noise, and other annoying low level noise. Just like other headsets they have a slight buzzing when the noise cancellation is on, with the exception being Bose headsets. However, at any level of volume the buzzing disappears. I'm not sure if it is just me or not, but after an hour or so they caused my ears discomfort, though I am slowly getting used to it. After 3 months mine still function perfectly.

First experience with Noise-canceling by Java J (Sunnyvale, CA USA) 4 Stars

These headphones are my first experience with noise-canceling headphones. I wanted noise canceling headphones for yearly bus trips. While the noise-cancelation is not complete, it is a noticeable improvement. These headphones removed enough of the constant rumble from the bus to make it possible for me to actually hear the music. I did find that the headphones became uncomfortable after several hours. I am also a bit worried about the wires that come out of the headphones. When storing the headphones in the case, these wires are bend. I worry that this will cause them to break prematurely. That is not an issue if the headphones are not stored in the case.

Not as good as AudioTechnica, but still great by PSP, MD (Miami, FL) 4 Stars

I bought a pair of AudioTechnica ANC-7 headphones a couple of years ago, and they were what I'd rate as a 10. At the time I was also contemplating the Bose QuietComfort, and felt the AT to be higher quality, better built, better sound isolation and sound output. At the time I paid around 140 dollars. I recently decided to get another pair of sound-isolating headphones, when on a trip (a friend broke the AudioTechnica earcup...). I was basically checking out Able Planet and the Bose again. This time the QC3. Some things: the Bose are more comfortable, better built, look better. However, they are triple the price, and the sound output and sound isolation aren't (to me) perceptibly different. I've had these phones for about a month now, have travelled on buses, trains, planes, used them in hospitals, and they have great isolation without generating the "whining" noise that many noise-canceling phones have. They were more efficient on planes, as the sound is pretty much constant. With the noise-cancellation/bass on, you will truly be able to find new nuances to songs that you have heard dozens of times before, which is cool. An added plus on the AudioTechnica is that there is a volume control on the earcup, not available on the AT. A couple of gripes: I have normal to larger size ears, and they start to get a little uncomfortable after about 1-2 hours (the earcups aren't very large). The other gripe is that the cord is always connected to the phones, unlike in the AudioTechnica, so for stowage you may find that the case forces on the cord a bit. Also, you lose the bonus of having a P2 connector, which comes in very handy when you are in a car that has AUX entrance or if you want to plug your MP3 into a stereo etc. All in all, I woul recommend these headphones, but again, the build quality is not the best, and I've only had these for a couple months.

I don't know how these have been getting the great reviews, they are barely average. They are alright if you are playing a video game, or watching TV. If you want to hear your music in clean, clear sound...buy something else! The sound is muffled and muddy at best! The SRS only serves to make the music tinny sounding, and increases the high end to a point where it is unbearable. I tried the SRS for watching a movie....the sound separation was great, but it basically eliminated the voices. I haven't bothered trying to see how good the noise canceling is, as listening to my Ipod Classic with these is god awful! I would not recommend these to anyone who actually wants to enjoy their music on a plane trip as the sound quality is really poor for the price....for ANY price!

First of all I have to say I am not an expert, but I found these headphones to be very unconfortable. Couldn't wear them for more the 5 minutes, but the sound is very good, but not great don't understand why it received all those awards. The headphones are well built will not break with normal use. I will sell them and stick to my older headphones Sony MDR-D777LP. PROS: Sound is good, but not great(they don't deserve all the awards) well built and sturdy noise cancellation CONS: VERY UNCOMFORTABLE Nothing impressive Too expensive for what they offer
