CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 142 reviews)
| It is NOT the Firmware by Agent Excel (Hillsboro, OR USA) 2 Stars November 21, 2009 I have the freezing problem in 50% of the disks I played. From the look of the glitching and the reproducibility of the freezes, I concluded that the player was just not able to read the data. No amount of firmware updates will address this issue. Since most people seem to be satisfied with the player, I believe that an exchange will likely address this issue. This experience reminded me of DVD technology about 10 years ago. I guess we have to wait a few more generations before the technology matures.
| | Great Picture, OK sound by J. Curran 4 Stars November 21, 2009 I recently purchased a Panasonic DMP-BD60K Blu-Ray player. Based on the customer reviews I read, I assumed this player would render better video/sound than my 3 year old PS3 60Gb. I unfortunently was mistaken. The DVD upscaling was only equivalent to my PS3 and the sound was noticably worse.
Considering that my PS3 was already paid for and the DMP-BD60K was easily refundable, I returned it to Fry's the following day and got a Harmony PS3 adapter in it's place for about 1/3 the price.
In short, this system produces top-notch video but only middle-of-the-pack sound. Then again, my PS3 originally cost about 5 times what Amazon sells the DMP-BD60K for. For the modest price, it's still worth strongly considering.
| | Panasonic = High quality by Wolverine (FL) 5 Stars November 20, 2009 I love this player. Payed much more for it when it first came out but have not had a single problem with it. It stays cool even after hours of use. Picture quality is brilliant and never hiccups. With its standby feature it doesn't take long to boot up. The only thing that is missing is Netflix. Who knows, maybe they can add that in a future firmware update.
| | Will not play AVCHD correctly by B Wong (Milpitas, CA United States) 2 Stars November 19, 2009 If you plan to play AVCHD disc with this player forget it. Only the play function works, any other function on the remote will freeze the video and you have to start the disc from the beginning. I purchased one of these from Electronics Expo, I try to return the unit but they charge 20% restocking fee plus shipping so the cost for returning the unit is approx. 30% and you have to file a complain to Amazon before they response to your email. At last I kept the unit. The latest firmware still did not fix the freeze issue. My next player will be from Costco.
| | Updating DVD player by Mr Fish (Portland, Oregon USA) 5 Stars November 18, 2009 I upgraded my dvd player to the blu-ray for two main reasons. First cost of the upgraded dvd player was around 80.00 . Second I wanted to get the better picture for my newer plasma screen TV. For a little bit more I was able to get this entry line Blu-Ray player.
It is a bit slower on the start up that my older dvd player. Has much better sound and picture quality. I would say it was worth the upgrade. I have not seen any benefit of the wireless connection yet.
