I have been looking to purchase this unit for quiet some times I have did all the research and compared all the model's this is a good one. {But} and it's a big {But} the price 2 months ago was 169.88 and it has benn climbing ever since.c If this is a personal purchase I suggest you wait until after the first of the year.. This DVD player will not even play a regular DVD for me. It just displays U73 which is a Panasonic code for a bad cable but after trying 3 different cables (including Monsters Best)this player will not display a thing for me.
Blu Ray is so heavly copy-protected from every aspect everything has to handshake and work together from the disc, cable, player and TV. Lots of problems with this format. Kinda wish HD would have won the war.
Sending the player back tomorrow and getting a Sony.

I was all excited to purchase this unit from Amazon. I added it to my wish list at $186.xx on November 23, 2009. On November 25 I went to buy it from my wish list and the price was $224.99! Two days before "black Friday"! I went to Crutchfield and paid $229.99 + $10.99 ship.=$240.99. I know I spent more money, but I was willing to do that in protest of Amazon raising the price like that. I am going to do what I can to change all of my purchases away from Amazon now. Sometimes you have to stand up for what is right, even if you pay for it!

This is a great Blue-ray player, the sound and video are great and it does play all of our old DVD's as well. The only issue I don't care for is when Blue-ray discs are playing you can't stop the player you must pause it instead, otherwise it will restart the whole video.
Other than that I am very happy with it.
