CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 27 reviews)
| Wow. Simply wow. by Robert Stottle (USA) 5 Stars November 24, 2009 I have had this for about a month now and am still impressed.
I searched and compared for a month before making this purchase and it's better than expected. I visited several brick and mortar stores and with the lighting and set ups they used there it was really pretty hard to tell all that much difference between the different models so I wen to several AV forums and read all the reviews I could and decided that this was the one. The only other Plasma I could find with better reviews and ratings was the Pioneer (which was rated only marginally better than the Panasonic and MUCH more expensive).
I had to tweak the color settings to my own preferences and then BANG! it was off to the games. Football never looked better. Just finished building an HTPC with BluRay and plugged in the new Star Trek BD and was very impressed with the color and judder free playback.
Call me a happy camper.
| | Great Purchase by Amazed By Technology (Carefree, AZ) 5 Stars November 24, 2009 I've not seen a better picture at any price and it is easy to spend twice as much. As rich and clear as I recall on the older Pioneer Elite plasmas. If the 4 inch thickness doesn't preclude this TV for your installation, this is the one to buy.
| | Superb TV by Ronald G. Williams (Olympia, WA USA) 5 Stars November 15, 2009 I studied as many reviews as I could and finally selected this TV. I had started out planning to get an LCD or LED. I am glad I selected this one. The picture is all I could ask for.
If I had one concern, it was the folks who delivered the TV. When I first considered this I was told the Amazon had the"white glove" delivery where it would be set up, for a fee. I was willing to do that , but when I purchased mine, that servce was not available. The folks who delivered mine had only one concern, and that was to get out as soon as they could. I told them they were suppose to at least turn it on to be sure it worked. They did not even want to take it out of the box, but reluctantly did. They turned it on and said ," there it works", and left as quickly as they could. They said they do not take the box and they sure don't help me lift it up to the table.
But, getting back to the TV, its the best and I sure would select it again.
| | This is how you are supposed to watch bluray movies and play your games by X. Chen (Boston, MA) 5 Stars November 15, 2009 Just got this TV on Thursday and adjusted the settings according to the CNET review. I use the THX mode to watch Blu-ray through my PS3, and the picture quality is jaw dropping. I did a lot of research before deciding on this TV, and I couldn't have made a better choice. The deep black levels and high contrast ratio reveal the faintest details and really make everything seem so real and life like, something LCD TVs are struggling to replicate. I have also spent a lot of time playing games through Xbox360 which is connected through the component input, and I think I am going to replay my old games again because it just looks so darn good. If you want a big TV with the best picture quality possible without breaking your bank, I would recommend this one without any reservation.
| | Most bang for your buck by triode fan (California) 4 Stars November 13, 2009 I have been searching for a new TV (already owned a 46" 1080p mitsubishi) to replace my first 2002 Toshiba 4:3 rear-projection HDTV. I narrowed it down to Samsung LED LCD, Sony XBR, LG LED LCD. Then I noticed all the improved blackness and 240 Hz refresh rate are all trying to match up with plasma performance. I started looking for Pioneer Kuro and even it is being discontinued, it is still too expensive for my budget. Further research led me to Panasonic especially the G10 series. I saw it in person at Fry's and Best Buy and I was very impressed with the PQ. AVS forum also posted some really good reviews. I even followed the break-in routine as posted on the forum.
After the break-in, I tweaked the TV settings based on some of the settings posted on AVS forum and I have not regret a bit with the purchase. I paid 1600 and Amazon provided the white glove service with a bonus Panasonic bluray player which I sold it on Craigslist for $140. So I actually paid $1460 for the TV and I just loved the TV.
There is only 1 thing that I would pick on is that the 3:2 pull down does not always work. My IPTV have some weird aspect ratio which does not work well the panny tv. Other than that, I have nothing but high praises for this TV. The color is accurate and vivid and the black is very impressive. I cannot justify paying more for the Pioneer kuro just for incremental improvement.
The TV is loaded with features such as SD card slot, ethernet connection so you can see youtube, picassa and other websites directly from the menu.
If you are like me who wants the most bang for the buck, this is one hack of a 54" flat panel TV that you can purchase today without breaking the bank.
