| | Moving song, especially when you know what it is about by T.R.P. (lake charles, LA) 5 Stars June 02, 2009 When I first heard this song, I liked it and probably would have given it 3 1/2 stars. But when I watched an interview with Rob Thomas and found out what the song was about, I downloaded the song, listened carefully to the words and I have to give it a 5 star rating. Rob Thomas' wife has a lupus-like disorder and this song is about her and them dealing with the disease. Listening to it in that context, it is very moving. Even more so if you are someone who has lupus (or any auto-immune disease) like myself.
Most anyone with real health issues can listen to this song and see themselves in it. But even for those who are blessed with healthy bodies, a song about empathy and compassion for someone dealing with the unchangeable should still rate high. Finally, a song that is actually about something real.
| | Cubic Zirconium by Amaranth (Northern California) 2 Stars May 22, 2009 "Her Diamonds" is the latest from former Matchbox 20 front man Rob Thomas. The percussion is interesting, for a pop song, but beyond that, it's the generic whiny Rob Thomas song. It's about a couple with relationship problems, and they do a lot of crying and feeling sorry for themselves. It's sappy, annoying, and enough to make you want to send the couple to therapy. It's that bad.
| | Diamond Rob by Michael Kerner (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) 4 Stars May 19, 2009 For Rob Thomas, it has been nearly 4 years since he broke out on his own, as a part of Matchbox 20. While back in 2007, he did have a brief reunion with the band, and a strong hits collection with Exile On Mainstream, there are those who have awaited something new from Rob heart and soul. His latest single Her Diamonds from his upcoming album Cradlesong isn't a bad up. It feels very uplifting, and thrives a bit better than most of the songs that have came out this past year. I was pleasantly surprised from him. He has grown very nicely as a writer and performer. I do hope that his upcoming album can deliver with his fans nicely. I will be eagerly awaiting for those diamonds.
