| Well worth it! by Brian T. Carter 5 Stars August 08, 2009 I've been using the DVD three days a week and feel like it's helping me through a rough time. Just setting aside time for myself every morning with this DVD is a blessing. I like how she moves from basic yoga, to body scan, to mediation. It really primes you for the "work" of the meditation portion. Although, most of the time I skip the body scan because it makes the whole session about an hour instead of an hr. and a half. This DVD is well worth the investment and has led me to interest in other forms of meditation. Go for it!
| | Buyer beware by WazzMan (Georgia USA) 1 Stars July 15, 2009 Any benefits from the meditation is highly compromised EVERY time you start the DVD. First, there are several cover-their-butts warnings. Then there is the LONG commercial for the publisher, GAIAM Media. I repeat, every time you start the DVD. Every stinkin' time. EVERY, every, every time. Did I say, EVERY time.
So you want a nice meditation session. Wonderful. Great. But let me first shove an in-your-face corporate commercial down your throat, whether you want it or not. You know, because we can. And becasue, of course, we are more important than you.
To me, this makes the whole premise a lie. People want meditation to get away from the busy-ness of the world, which of course, primarily consists of heavy doses of corporate crap we are CONSTANTLY fed. Margarine anyone?
Boycott it, dont buy it.

The great reviews here sealed the deal--I ordered it. Never having practiced meditation before, I liked that people said good things about the short yoga portion and the body awareness exercise.
Holy cow, this DVD was amazing. I liked that the yoga portion was short, and the stretches weren't impossible to do. The body awareness was very calming and relaxing, which prepares you for the third and final portion, the actual meditation practice (the guide, a French-born Yoga and Meditation instructor with a rockin' body has a very calming and relaxing voice, instructing "when your mind wanders, gently pull it back") is super.
I now do this DVD 3-4 times a week and it gets better each time. It has relieved my stress, helped me sleep better, and not be so short with my husband. Well worth it! Highly, highly recommended.
| | So soothing! by Marjorie A. Graham 5 Stars February 19, 2009 I purchased the DVD to teach me simple yoga positions since my first intro to yoga has been power yoga and I am struggling. Maritza's voice is wonderful and the pace is so relaxing. I use the body scan meditation at bedtime and do the seated meditation in the a.m. SHort attention theater here! Have a hard time as a newbie staying put for 20 min. I find the body scan an easier way to stay in the moment. I am very greatful to the other reviews which helped me select this. And, yes. My BP is down.

The instructor, Maritza, takes you through a short yoga routine and progressive relaxation. I've tried several other DVD's (Rodney Yee and others) and this is by far one of the better places to start. The only thing that I didn't like about it is that when Maritza is meditating, her head bobbles like a bobble head and it's distracting (doesn't look very peaceful).
