Description
As special as the everlasting friendship it celebrates, this Special Edition DVD lets you relive BEACHES and all its touching and funny moments, and includes outstanding never-before-seen bonus materials. When the irrepressible C.C. Bloom (Bette Midler) and the shy and proper Hillary Whitney (Barbara Hershey) first meet under the boardwalk at the beach, all the 11-year-olds have in common is the need for a best friend. Worlds apart in lifestyle and location, their friendship ebbs and flows through a lifetime of highs and lows, career changes, marriages, jealousy, and more. From the boardwalk in Atlantic City to the beach house on the Pacific, BEACHES will remind you of what being a true friend means.

Amazon.com essential video
Garry Marshall's 1988 drama about a 30-year friendship between two women, one wealthy (Barbara Hershey) and the other (Bette Midler) seeking her fortune in show business, is well written (based on the novel by Iris Rainer Dart) and nicely textured in its contrast between the characters' separate destinies. When Hershey becomes ill with cancer, the film takes a predictably sentimental course, yet Marshall brings out the best in both actresses and catches some very fine drama. The film is a little too long, perhaps, but overall it is a fine experience. --Tom Keogh

Wonderful, Beautiful, Amazing, Captivating, Extraordinary Brilliant Movie by Kiyana T. Jackson 5 Stars

This is my all time favorite movie of all time! The first time I saw this movie I was eleven years old and still at the age of 29 I love it the same. I can laugh, cry, think, smile, frown at certain scenes throughout this movie. If you have not yet seen this movie, what are you waiting for? This is definitely a must-see and I highly recommend anyone that loves a good drama, tear-jerker movie to see this one but even with the tears, there is bliss that overcomes it. I love Beaches, and so will you!!!

This is one movie that does not age in time. A life long journey with a friend is something most everyone can relate to. Add Bette Midler with her funny antics and a surprising seriousness that is not only surprising but truly emotional. I loved this movie

Peaceful and relaxing movie by Danna F. Henderson (USA) 5 Stars

No doubt about it, Bette Midler is the next best singer to Cher. I've listened to this CD multiple times and it just gets better everytime I hear it. When my grandfather passed away last year, I used "Wind Beneath my Wings" as one of the songs and cried becasue the song is so passionate. I wish Bette would do some more music like she did on this soundtrack. She's a heck of a singer and I've got a few more of her CD's, but this one takes the cake! I even have two ringback tones from this soundtrack on my phone.

I've had this on video tape since it first came out and now I had to get the DVD because of the music. It sounds so much better than the video tape.
