The video was excellent. There were fish and other animals I have never seen before. it is divided into two DVD's, one on fish and the other non fish like coral and sponges. the music was great. It was enjoyable to just view the video. Great way to learn fish ID.

A "Must Have" Fiji/Tonga Video Masterpiece by Paul J. Duhamel (San Francisco, CA USA) 5 Stars
August 08, 2007
These award winning videographers have created another artistic masterpiece with this Fiji/Tonga video identificaiton guide. Divers and marine enthusiasts alike will be delighted to watch and enjoy this video many times. It is one of the highlights of my undersea library - a very helpful and portable South Pacific marine life and critter identification resource. Many scenes capture not only the fish or other animal, but also very interesting behavior as an added bonus. The authors have the highest standards in both video and editing, and it shows from the outside cover through the credits at the end of the video. Very reasonably priced and more than worth the cost. Makes you want to get your dive gear together and take the next flight to Fiji!

Superb Marine Life of Fiji, Tonga AND the Solomon Islands by Daniel Sloan (Seattle, Washington USA) 5 Stars
August 08, 2007
This DVD set is elegant. Its title understates the work's relevance to the greater South Pacific Region. It is informative and mesmerizing. It is entertaining. The authors are experts. They capture the essence of marine life. These two discs are the best documentation I have of my 90 dives in the Solomon Islands during 2006 and 2007.

An innovative dimension to creature identification and appreciation by S. Wada (Seattle, WA United States) 5 Stars
July 02, 2007
Created by two professional videographers and experts who spent several years studying the marine life in Fiji and Tonga, this "guidemovie" is fascinating and beautifully filmed. While I have many of the classic Reef Identification series, watching this DVD set made the images in these kinds of books come alive. It was refreshing to be able to study behavior and environment - interesting and important aspects of marine life that can't properly be depicted in words or still photos. The set includes a quick reference guide and two DVDs - one focuses on fish species and the other on "everything else" such as invertebrates, mammals, corals and algaes. Both DVDs can be played either in sequence or by chapter selection targeting groups of critters (e.g. sharks, nudibranchs, soft corals, cowries, seahorses). The reference guide is helpful for those who want to find a particular critter by its general body shape and size but don't remember its name. When I received the set, I first looked up all of my favorites but after a while, I just let it play through in sequence. It is amazing that the authors have captured so many rare and camera-shy species and I have a new respect and interest in the diversity at one of my favorite places to dive - Fiji. This DVD set is very reasonably priced given the craftsmanship and range of species documented. And it travels well - much lighter and compact than multiple fish and coral ID guidebooks that cover the same types of marine life. Have your friend haul the laptop and bring it along on your next vacation. Or simply enjoy it from home on your HDTV or PC. Highly recommended!

The inspiration for Darwin's theory of evolution, the Galapagos Islands are a living laboratory, a geological conveyor belt that has given birth to and seen the death of many species of plants and animals. As the western islands rise up from the sea offering a chance of life, the eastern islands sink back beneath the waves guaranteeing only death. Between the two are the middle islands; fertile, lush land in its prime that contains an incredible diversity of life. Nowhere else on the Earth are...
