Very interesting look at Native American history by James Stewart (Oklahoma City, OK) 5 Stars
July 30, 2008
I appreciated the overview of Native American history, culture and traditions through the eyes of the great artists, George Catlin, Charles Bird King and Edward S. Curtis. I also loved the music score that accompanied the clear, concise narration. Anyone interested in paintings and art work of the Native American tribes of North American would certainly enjoy this DVD. They were charismatic and forward thinking, imaginative and courageous, compassionate and resolute, and, at times, arrogant, vengeful, and reckless. For hundreds of years, Native American leaders from Massasoit, Tecumseh, and Tenskwatawa, to Major Ridge, Geronimo,
and Fools Crow, valiantly resisted expulsion from their lands and fought the extinction of their culture. Sometimes, their strategies were militaristic, but more often they were diplomatic, spiritual, legal, and political.
