| One Touch of Venus by Maria Laura Perez 5 Stars October 03, 2009 It took me years to find this movie. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Hollywood doesn't make them like this any more. I truly wish they would make more of these type of movies.
| | Fine overlooked comedy still offers chuckles and love by William R. Ray (Arden, NC USA) 4 Stars July 06, 2009 The DVD transfer is good and the detail is there.
This comedy should keep you interested. It flows along with a little madcap confusion over a stature that comes to life (Ava Gardner) and falls for a store clerk (Robert Walker). Walker is excellent as the bemused and bewildered clerk who has a fiance and a new girlfriend. Ava Gardner, as Venus, is gorgeous in her gowns and quite sexy too. Toss in the wise-cracking Eve Arden and 40's crooner Dick Haymes and you've got a very good comedy.
Recommended for: Fans of Ava Gardner (you'll love this film), comedy fans, Robert Walker fans. OK for the kids but the youngest ones will get bored.
| | Why do I like this movie so much? by Craig Stockton (Red Lion PA) 3 Stars June 13, 2009 Was Ava ever more beautiful then in this movie? It has one of my all time very favorite songs - SPEAK LOW. And I will watch anything with Eve Arden. Olga San Juan - seeing her in this - didn't you just want to see her star in something? I have Dick Haymes CDs - just a wonderful voice. Lastly - Robert Walker - an amazing actor who could do anything - comedy, drama - and, of course - suspense - incredible in STRANGERS ON A TRAIN. And yet it just misses. I'm not sure why - it's missing something. Let me know what you think it might be. I know I hate the ending. Excuse me - thet's not the real Venus.
| | One Touch Of Venus by Adele Plotkin (Illinois) 5 Stars February 01, 2009 This was one of my old time favorites. The casting and acting were just right. Ava Gardner was at her magnificent best. All she had to do was stand there. I particularly liked Eve Arden. This was just before Miss Brooks. When I watch this film I sit with a smile on my face and remember the first time I saw it.
| | One Touch of Venus by Christina L. Isaacs (Angier, NC, USA) 5 Stars January 13, 2009 Living in North Carolina and only one hour from the Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield, I have been trying for a couple of years to watch many of her movies that are available. This one is one of the best ones I have seen. The picture and sound quality were excellent. The storyline and players were incredible. I would recommend this DVD to anyone who is an Ava Gardner fan.
