Drs. Brock and Fernette Eide, experts in the fields of gifted education and learning differences, presented over 3 hours of a Live Webinar for an international audience of parents, teachers, psychologists, and other professionals working with Gifted and Twice Exceptional Children. Attention, sensory processing, and social challenges are commonly in gifted children, but how are they distinguished and when do they warrant treatments, and if so, what types? In this fascinating presentation, the Drs. Eide discuss overlaps in the checklists of ADD/ ADHD, Sensory Processing, Giftedness, and Autism Spectrum disorders (including Aspergers Syndrome),cover normal neurodevelopment for gifted children, differences between gifted boys and gifted girls, the attention and organization problems of highly creative children, and the impact of motivation on attention. Visualspatial thinking styles and differences in working memory are also addressed, and sensory processing disorders are carefully reviewed including topics such as central auditory and visual processing disorders and the problems of emotional regulation. The Eides close this session with ways to improve attention for all children.
