The Omron HEM-712C Automatic Blood Monitor with IntelliSense is one of the best-selling upper-arm blood pressure monitors. This monitor is incredibly easy to use -- simply wrap the cuff around your arm and press start. In seconds, your blood pressure and pulse readings are displayed on the large digital panel. Proven time and time again, Omron's IntelliSense technology ensures accurate, clinically-proven, and comfortable readings. The Omron HEM-712C delivers accurate, clinically-proven blood pressure readings in the comfort of your own home. View larger. To take an accurate reading, first position the green marker directly over the artery on the inside of your arm. Next, place your arm on a table so the cuff is positioned at the same level as your heart. Instructions for Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitors There are several easy steps to taking your blood pressure with this monitor. First of all, avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Remove tight-fitting clothing from your upper arm, and sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Slide your left arm through the cuff and position the cuff approximately 0.5-inches above the elbow. On the cuff you'll notice a green marker; position this marker directly over the artery on the inside of your arm. Next, secure the cuff with the Velcro material. The cuff should make direct contact with your skin, but you should be able to easily fit your index finger between the cuff and your arm. Place your arm on a table so that the cuff is positioned at the same level as your heart. Rest comfortably in a relaxed environment for at least 15 minutes prior to taking your blood pressure measurement. Once you feel relaxed, simply press the start button and remain still. The cuff will begin to inflate and numbers will appear on the display as the heart symbol flashes. When the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your blood pressure and pulse rate will display on the screen. If you need to stop the measurement at any time, simply press the on/off button and the monitor will immediately deflate. And remember, always consult your physician for specific information about your blood pressure. What is IntelliSense? The IntelliSense monitor inflates the cuff to the ideal level with each use -- you never have to make any adjustments to select an inflation level. My mother's doctor suggested her to buy a blood pressure monitor, to keep track of her BP, since he found high BP in her.
I searched in the Amazon store and I found this unit, then I read the reviews and I took the decision to buy it.
When it arrived I tested it with my family and we found accurate readings (compared with those who took our doctor).
It is VERY IMPORTANT to read the manual and follow these steps to get accurate readings*:
1. Avoid eating, smoking and excercising for 30 minutes before taking a mesurement. Rest for at least 15 minutes before taking a measurement.
2. Stress raises blood presure. Avoid taking measurements during stressful times.
3. Remove tight-fitting clothing from your left arm.
4. Measurements should be taken in a quiet place.
5. Sit in chair with your feet flat on the floor. Rest your left arm on a table so that the cuff is at the same level as your heart.
6. Remain still and do not talk during the measurement.
7. Keep a record of your blood presure and pulse readings for your physician. A single measurement does not provide an accurate indication of your true blood pressure. You need to take and record several readings over a period of time. Try to measure your blood pressure at the same time each day for consistency.
8. Wait 2-3 minutes between measurements. The wait time allows the arteries to return to the condition prior to taking the blood pressure measurement. You may need to increase the wait time depending on your individual physical characteristics.

I was ordered to get a home monitoring device by my doctor. Every time I go they say I have high blood pressure. I never get high readings when I go to those machines at the stores or have a cute fireman take it. Anyway, I got this machine because I did not want to spend too much money on one of these and Amazon had some good prices, plus I had coupons for the site. So I got this pretty inexpensively. But I think this product is great for its price and I don't have any problem with it. It is easy to use, easy to read, easy to manage. I think it's great. I also found out that I don't have high blood pressure, but rather just suffer from white coat syndrome That is where your blood pressure is up cause you are nervous at the doctor's office. I don't think I get nervous. I think my blood pressure goes up because when I am there, I have to wait 40 minutes to an hour to be called back to see the doctor. I hate someone wasting my time. Then the first thing they do is put you on a scale to weigh you. Am I supposed to be relaxed when you just told me I am overweight???
