CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 97 reviews)
| So far, so good by N. Sandoval (Grand Rapids, MI) 5 Stars November 28, 2009 I have only been using this for about a month now. I have suffered from seasonal depression for the last 8 years(with the exception of the last two years which I spend in a sunnier area), and have tried many things to avoid it with minimal success. Diet and exercise, abstaining from alcohol, and at times antidepressants. I was very nervous about moving back to Michigan with its gloomy days and I felt like I could not stand another year of being depressed from October to March.
I read such great reviews about this product and it was a great price. The good news is that it seems to be working! My depression symptoms that usually show up in late October just havent! I use it in the mornings for 30 minutes before work and thats it. It is easier to get out of bed, I am not crying all of the time, I have more energy. But its not like it makes you hyper, I just feel like my normal self. I am so so happy I bought this and I would recommend it to anyone. For what we paid for it, it is more then worth it.
Being pregnant, my options to fight depression were somewhat limited and in doing research I was excited to see that many doctors recommend this for pregnant women to treat even non-seasonal types of depression. So I was glad to hear that it was safe.
I received it very quickly and I was able to set it up in about 5 minutes. I have used it almost every day, and have yet to notice a smell that other reviewers talked about. I am about 6 months pregnant and normally have a great sense of smell anyway, but still no smell.
The only downside is that when put together it is kind of big and awkward and somewhat hard to find a spot to store and use it.
I ended up putting it behind my computer monitor and use while I check my email.
I only hope that it keeps running year after year. And if not, I would be more than glad to buy a new one.
| | Perfect by Amber L. Pennington (SC) 5 Stars November 27, 2009 This light had all the recommended features at a reasonable price. It has worked wonders for my seasonal depression and has also regulated my bedtime. I love this light!
| | No more winter funk! by Jen B 5 Stars November 24, 2009 Northeast Ohio = no sun for most of the time between late fall and early spring. I knew I had to do SOMETHING to deal with that "winter funk" that would take over when the abundant clouds settled in. After doing some research I settled on the Uplift Technologies DL930 Day-Light. This thing WORKS. I use it everyday for 20-30 minutes at about the same time in the morning when I'm eating breakfast (after my workout). No more depression or lethargy day after day! I noticed a difference by the fourth day. It's light-weight and easy to move. As mentioned in other reviews - it is delivered as a box in a box. The outside box looked like they played a game of rugby with it during transit. The inside box is packed well and nothing was broken.
| | This is a quality light for the money! by Jenn Finn (Seattle, WA) 4 Stars November 16, 2009 After trying the SAD light for varying degrees of time and at different amounts of lux, I still could not shake the side effects. My eyes hurt, I had a headache, stomach ache, and the jitters. I bought it for my manic depression that was worse seasonally, but definately due to bi-polar disorder. And, I had read there is a risk of the SAD therapy causing mania in those folks who struggle with bi-polar disorder. I decided I would give it a try.
I have returned the light- though I am very impressed with the quality of the light itself and my purchase and experience buying from Amazon. I would definately recommend both to others who struggle with SAD!!! Great value so it seems!
| | brightens up a dreary winter morning by Mark in Boise (Boise, ID United States) 4 Stars November 13, 2009 Very bright, makes the room feel like a summer morning instead of a dreary winter one. Legs could be a bit more stable, but not a major drawback.
