The Anemia Meter is the world's first single use rapid response Anemia Device! The test provides you with an accurate, convenient, and inexpensive way to test for possible anemia in the comfort and safety of your home or office. Low hemoglobin levels are associated with extreme weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, depression, rapid heart beat, and/or pale skin. People over 65, those who have had recent surgery, and HIV/AIDS patients are at increased risk. Additionally, people who have kidney disease, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, or heart disease should check their hemoglobin level regularly. The specimen collection process is quick, easy and virtually painless. Using the special lancet (included with the BIOSAFE Anemia Meter), one or more drops of blood are taken from a nick of a finger and deposited into the Anemia Meter. A view window indicates when the right amount of blood has been deposited, and a plunger is then pushed to start the testing process. The unit is then set aside. At the end of twenty minutes the window on the meter will give you your result. That's all there is to it! Quick ¿ Convenient ¿ Accurate. Your result will be numerical ¿ not just a simple YES or NO. I could not get enough blood to use this test! I'm a nursing student so I know how to prick fingers for blood sugar, and I have done it numerous times. The lancets in this kit are faulty and don't draw enough blood. So basically I just wasted $20 on this from Walmart. Do NOT buy unless you have lancets you could take from someone else.

I recently suffered severe hemorrhaging, after which my iron levels were below 8.0 and my doctor prescribed iron supplements. Although I trust my doctor's judgment and her belief that the supplements would help my iron levels return to normal, I wanted to see for myself that this was the case. Despite the other poor reviews on Amazon for these Biosafe Anemia Meters, I decided to purchase two of them. I had no problems whatsoever with these meters, having followed the directions exactly as written, and am very pleased with their quality. I am a scaredy cat when it comes to needles, but the lancet included with the meter was very easy to use and I barely felt it (I used it on the side of my middle finger). I have used both of these meters so far, and have successfully determined that my iron levels are (slowly) returning to normal. These meters have given me peace of mind without having the inconvenience of visiting my doctor every month and paying a copay (which would be higher than the price of one of these meters).

I found the Anemia Meter easy to use, however, I would STRONGLY urge users to read the entire instruction sheet at least once or twice before use. The only thing I did not like about the meter is that it can only be used one time. I would recommend this product to anyone who can carefully follow instructions. (I did not find the instructions to be complicated, but they must be followed exactly.) The kit came with everything needed, including the lancet, an alcohol wipe and even a band-aid.

This product was purchased for a cancer patient who requires periodic blood transfusions. As such her hemoglobin levels run between 5.7 and 9.2. Below 6.5 she requires a blood transfusion. The product material did not reflect that this product does not read a hemoglobin level below 8. We ordered this product not knowing the scale did not read below 8. We wasted our time and money due to lack of disclosure regarding hemoglobin scale limitations.
