EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Philips, the leader in portable defibrillation technology, designed the HeartStart OnSite Defibrillator for the ordinary person in the extraordinary moment. The OnSite is designed to be the easiest-to-use and most reliable defibrillator available. Innovative technology, based on extensive research and user feedback, has produced a defibrillator so easy to use that you can potentially save the life of a co-worker, friend, or anyone else stricken with sudden cardiac arrest. Weighing just 3.3 lbs., this small and lightweight defibrillator can be easily carried to the patient's side. Using clear, natural voice instructions, the OnSite Defibrillator guides you through each step of defibrillation and CPR. Integrated SMART Pads placed on the patients bare skin transmit information to the defibrillator, which senses and adapts to your actions every step of the way. HeartStart OnSite includes proven Philips technologies for heart rhythm assessment (SMART Analysis) and defibrillation energy delivery (SMART Biphasic). And like all HeartStart defibrillators, it can be used to treat adults, as well as infants and children.
HeartStart OnSite is powered by a simple, long-life (four-year) battery, the same technology used with confidence in millions of cameras. Just click the battery in place, and the defibrillator is standing by, ready for use. Between uses, the defibrillator performs daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests of its electrical components, subsystems, and battery to help ensure continued reliability and readiness. |

| NOT A REAL AED by Haward K (America) 1 Stars November 19, 2009 DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT IS A TRAINING DEVICE, IT IS NOT INTENDED TO USE IN A REAL EMERGENCY. VERY DECEPTIVE TITLE
| | Please beware! This is a life-threating fraud! by AnesDoc (Dallas, TX, USA) 1 Stars November 03, 2009 This is an AED TRAINER, not an actual working AED! The Phillips HeartStart Trainer manual has the disclaimer "The HeartStart Trainer cannot be used to deliver defibrillation treatment".
It is used to TEACH care-givers how to use an AED without the danger of delivering an actual, and potentially dangerous, defibrillatory shock. The trainer operates off of 4 AA batteries, while the battery for an actual Phillips HeartStart AED runs about $120.
AED's are expensive (typically over $1000 - see other Amazon ads), while trainers are in the $200-300 range. Nowhere does this ad state that this is not a full-fledged AED, and the photo and description are for the AED, not the Trainer. Phillips, to their credit, intentionally makes the AED and the AED Trainer dissimilar in appearance to avoid confusion, and the Trainer manual warns "Do not store your Trainer with your defibrillator, or where it could be confused with a defibrillator during an emergency"
This same ad appeared several days ago as being offered by "BP Medical Supplies" - now it is being sold by "Oximeter Superstore". I contacted Amazon and the seller - Amazon said they would investigate further, and the seller responded "we are selling an aed trainer. on my end the lsiting is as a trainer. AMAZON.COM must change their catalgue page." (sic).
Please DO NOT BUY THIS thinking that it could save someone's life - it simply cannot be used as an actual AED and will result in the PATIENT'S DEATH if used as such.
| | Amazon should pull this ad and ban the seller by Dr. Goodheart (Davis, California) 1 Stars October 28, 2009 It is extremely misleading to describe in the header that this is a "defibrillator". This is criminally misleading advertising.
Amazon should remove the ad, and ban the the seller from its Amazon connection.
I'm a cardiologist, and I'm extremely disturbed that someone could buy this device thinking they have a life-saving piece of medical equipment.
| | "Bait and Switch" by Michael Gold (san diego, ca USA) 1 Stars October 15, 2009 This product title says PHILIPS HeartStart OnSite DEFIBRILLATOR AED "SPECIAL PRICE!" Most people would look at this and conclude that this is a real defifrillator at a special price. I almost purchased it myself, but I had a vague suspicion that something was wrong. Indeed, when I looked at it in detail, it became evident that it was not a real defibrillator, but only a trainer. It would not provide a proper shock to anyone needing an AED.
If someone bought this, and then tried to use it in an emergency, would the seller be guilty of homicide as a result of their 'bait and switch'?
| | Wrong Product by Todd R. Rushing (Texas City, TX USA) 1 Stars October 07, 2008 What I ordered was not a trainer, but was shipped a trainer! Was this a case of false advertising, unable to determine, but the advertisement was not for a trainer.
