This ozone-free filter with an attactive gray casing combines the top five technologies into one unit: air ionizer for particles, HEPA air filter for dust and allergens, germicidal UV light for micro-organisms, activated carbon filter for chemicals, smoke and odors, and an anti-bacterial pre-filter for larger particles. Tests show that true HEPA filters (recommended by the Dept. of Homeland Security) are more effective than any other type of air filter at capturing dust, pollen, ragweed, dust mites, mold spores and other allergens. Germicidal UV light air purification, which destroys micro-ogranisms, is recommended by the U.S. Centers of Disease Control (CDC). Furthermore, according to Penn State Dept. of Aerobiological researchers, carbon filters serve to remove odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and chemicals that other filters cannot. The Multi-Tech has multiple technologies to remove cigarette smoke and other odors, including the activated carbon filter and ionizer. The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture found negative ion air purification (ionizers) to be 99% effective at removing airborne dust & particles. Under normal circumstances, Multi-Tech replacement costs will run just $25 to $50 per year (for replacement filters and UV lamp each year). The Multi-Tech will only add a few dollars or so per month to your power bill. Its powerful fan increases air-cleaning efficiency by effectively moving the air. I first purchased one of the XJ-3000D SURROUND AIR purifiers. It looked impressive but does not do the job. I liked the looks of it and it appears like it would clean the air and after a couple weeks I bought another unit, exact same model. Well I use them for 10 to 14 hrs a day every day. I am thinking as time goes by, "Hey, this is great I never have to change the filter" In the meantime I am changing my whole house air filter every month, and let me tell you with 2 big dogs and 2 cats, my A/C-furnace Merv 8 filters are filthy. BUT why are these filters so filthy and needing monthly replacement when I never even changed my Surround Air filters once in over a year? Either on of them? Then I looked at the Surround Air Hepa Filter, took it out and it was CLEAN, "I mean new looking clean". How can this be? Everyone that owns one go to your machine, your surround air purifiers and look at your back of the HEPA filter, IT will be white and clean and those that say not probably work for Surround Air. It had a very minute bit of dust around the outside of the filter where air leaked around the perimeter, but the back was like brand new. So I took a piece of newspaper, about 3 inches by 4 inches, just one sheet and placed it on the intake, and it could not even hold this little piece of newspaper up. I did this on BOTH units. So how can this air cleaner clean the air? If air can't go through the 3 3/4 inch Hepa filter because the fan's draw is not strong enough to pull the air through the Hepa filter, where it is suppose to trap pollutants and particles thus emitting clean FILTERED air and coming out through the exhaust cleansed. It is not happening! If your air was being laundered your filter would be filthy and needing to be changed or in the least vacuumed. As an owner of one of these, I say, "Don't waste your time, money, and the electricity it costs to run this for this Air Purifier or buy its expensive replacement filters". Look for INDEPENDENT TESTING BEFORE YOU BUY AN AIR PURIFIER. This is just another ripoff on consumers.

This is the best purchase I have made in many years. I can't say enough about how good it works at removing smoke and tobacco odors in a fairly good size room. I've bought other so-called air cleaners and wound up putting them out for the trash. Not to mention the money I save on expensive room deodorant sprays (which never really work anyway as they only mask the smell for an hour or so). It feels good to come home and not smell cigarette smoke as soon as you walk in the door. Do not hesitate to buy it. It's worth every cent and more.

The unit is well built, good quality. Works silently.
The fans have good speed and move the air. It's a good looking machine.
I have it on 24/H full speed, and has been working properly for 2 months.
Could do better at removing odors and smoke.
Would I buy a second one if needed? maybe.
Happy I bought it? Yes.

My daughter used to wake up with a runny nose every morning, even with our central air conditioning on. Since using this purifier that has not occurred for over 2 weeks.
This unit has the same coverage as the S3000, but is smaller and quieter.

We keep this air purifier close to our kitchen so that the smells from cooking are filtered and our home keeps a fresh air. It simply does not work under these conditions. Maybe it is good to filter other kind of odors, but not this particular one.
