Product Description
Why LED? The energy efficiency and durability of this otoscope is simply amazing. The LED light source has no filament to break like a conventional incandescent powered otoscope. The otoscope light source is virtually indestructible and comes with a lifetime warranty that even includes replacing the entire otoscope if the LED bulb ever burns out or stops functioning. You will be absolutely amazed by the amount of light created by the LED bulb. The light produced by this otoscope is full spectrum and not the yellow light typically created by incandescent light bulbs on other otoscopes. With a light emitting diode there is no fragile filament to break so it can withstand repeated dropping or rough handling. The halogen bulbs found on other otoscopes burn very hot and eat battery power, they are also very fragile and easily damaged. The Dr. Mom Slimline LED Otoscope provides one incredible value for the price! The otoscope was engineered to specifications created by a pediatrician and a long-experienced emergency room physician. This premium quality medical instrument employs a light emitting diode (LED) as its light source, for superior light and an extraordinarily clear view of the ear canal and eardrum. There is simply no otoscope on the market that can compare to it, that will perform like it, for anything like the price of the Dr. Mom Slimline LED Otoscope!

Fantastic Item - Love it!!!! by Lm Smith (St Louis MO) 5 Stars

Wonderful item that works exactly as described. I can't believe how clearly I am able to see the eardrum of both my daughter and my husband. The light is so bright it will blind you if you look straight at it. The item is also light weight and very easy to handle. I had a larger fatter type that I purchased on eBay that used larger batteries that got very heavy in the hand while trying to manipulate it in the ear. I also had to replace the bulb on that model 2 times in just 8 months. I saw this otoscope while looking to purchase another bulb and decided to try it since it cost less than 2 bulbs. This ear scope is brighter, lighter, and I can see more clearly with it. I love this ear scope! A++++++++++++

LED Otoscope by Rob 3 Stars

Prompt delivery and eye catching packaging, it has an almost too light feel. The optics are only fair with some bullseye distortion. On the one I received the depth of field is such that the focus is no further than the end of the specula which means I have to go very deep to get the detail I am looking for. This proves very uncomfortable for my patient with a sensitive ear problem. Lighting is reasonably adequate though it is nothing more than a shiny piece of mylar reflecting the light from the LED down the inside of the specula creating a contrast issue with the view at the end. For $27 it's ok, I was not expecting much more than a pen light anyway.

Absolutely Awesome Product! by Marilyn Montgomery (Provo, Utah) 5 Stars

This is without doubt the best product I have ever purchased off the internet. It has provided me so much peace of mind with my child who suffers from ear infections caused by chronic allergies. It will tell you if the ears are simply filled with fluid bubbles or if there is evidence of redness which means bacteria are beginning to infect the ear. This is the third Dr Mom I have purchased. I bought one for myself some time ago then I purchased another as a gift for my sister and now I am purchasing again for a friend whose child also suffers frequent ear problems. This thing has been so darn useful to me I just can't wait to purchase for friends or family once I learn someone has an ear problem. I used to think the only way I could get my child's ear looked at was by going to the Doctor. It was actually my brother who is a pediatrician who lives in a distant city from me that recommend the otoscope. He said to me.....Girl, how do you think we learned as physicians to do ear exams in medical school? We practiced on each other. Nothing you can't figure out yourself simply by looking into ears." He was absolutely right. Once you look into enough ears you begin to realize what looks normal then when something doesn't look right you know it. He recommended this otoscope because he said he has not seen anything else in it's price range that even comes close to working as well as this one. He says it is comparable to the very expensive one he uses in his office as far as the clarity you see when looking at an eardrum. The otoscope is also small and light weight which I like since it is easy to stick in my purse when we travel. It never seems to fail that every time we get on a plane my child begins pulling at the ears several days after we get to our destination. I don't know if it's the stress of traveling or due to pressure changes that causes this but I do know it is nice to be able to get a look to make sure it isn't due to the start of an infection.

The best part is that you need never again be confounded by a burned out bulb, need never lose a filament to a jarring drop, need not keep a stock of thirty dollar replacements on hand. And you will not find a better otoscope...

Healing Childhood Ear Infections: Prevention, Home Care, and Alternative Treatment

Ear infections are still the leading reason parents take their child to a doctor. In this updated and revised second edition of his bestselling Childhood Ear Infections, Dr. Michael Schmidt describes the current controversy in medical journals questioning existing treatments for chronic earaches.
