The best buy on the best dry skin treatment. by A. B. Patrick Miller (Grand Junction, CO) 5 Stars

I have had dry skin problems for years and the AmLactin XL has been a real 'miracle' for me. AmLactin XL Cream, 5.6 Ounces It's normally expensive, but I was willing to pay whatever the market would bear for relief from the constant itching. Nothing else works as well for me, but it's not always easy to find at the pharmacy. When I saw the cream at nearly 30% off the retail price through Amazon, I bought three tubes. I'll buy more as needed, and be very thankful for the peaceful nights rest without all the itching and scratching keeping me awake.

Didn't work for me, at least not as well as it seemed to for others by Karen M. Scheller (Philly) 2 Stars

I am a 22 year old female and I have had atopic dermatitis (eczema) since I was born. It gets very severe in the cold seasons and this year it has been particularly worse. I purchased this product after reading the rave reviews and eagerly awaited for it to arrive. I took a shower and applied AmLactin when I got out. First of all, it burned like hell. I seriously had to take several minutes to calm down each time I rubbed a little more into my skin. I'm talking about biting-down-on-a-towel-as-hard-as-you-can kind of pain. I thought, "well, this could be a sign it's working maybe" so I finished applying it and put my pajamas on. At first, it seemed to work fairly well. I didn't really have to itch as much as I usually do (it seems the itching is always worse at night when I'm in bed), but after a few hours of sleeping I awoke and found myself itching myself again. I reapplied the cream, clenched my teeth at the burning, and managed to fall back asleep. I wash my sheets regularly with hypo-allergenic detergent, so I know it's like the beds fault. Anyway, after a couple weeks of using this product, I am officially giving up on it. The pain alone is unbearable. I shouldn't have to deal with that every time I use it. And it seemed to make my skin feel "chalky". It didn't FEEL moisturized. It felt dry to the touch and although it did manage to minimize my itching to some extent, it required constant reapplying. Not the product for me and I wouldn't recommend it to someone that has the same symptoms as me. Everyone reacts differently to these types of things, so try it if you're really curious.

Being a lifetime suffer of keratosis pilarsis, this stuff is a godsend. Had I had Amlactin XL in high school, it would have been different. I have keratosis pilarsis (KP)on the upper portion of my arms, I always hated getting dressed for gym or having to wear short sleeves. I've been to a ton of skin doctors looking for the quick fix. Only to be told, its not that bad, there's nothing we can do and you need to keep it moisterized which is the complete opposite of what you learn about "acne". That's what I always thought my problem was...acne. I use to sunbath in the summer because it seems to cure me for a short period of time. Now at the age of 42 and facing wearing a strapless dress as the maid of honor in a wedding, I turned to the internet for help. The first site I was directed to was Amlactin. It suggested starting with the XL first. I quickly ran out to my local pharamacy to grab and tube filled of this wonder lotion. It took a good 2 weeks to see a dramatic change. I use it twice a day and exfoliate in the shower. I always use a soap that is also a moisterizer on my arms as well. Of course, I cannot stop using the lotion or the condition will come back. I've also tried to use the regular Amlactin lotion but it wasn't as effective as the XL version. I'm sorry it has taken me this long to find a solution.

This is a wonderful product. It totally got rid of the deep cracks on my feet (heels). Nothing else worked! Because it is a cream, it is thicker and clings to your skin.

I bought this product after reading customer reviews, as they indicated this product is good for treating KP. I have been using it twice a day on my arms and calves and I have noticed a significant difference! Although it's expensive, a little goes a long way so I think the tube will last me quite a while. Also, I ocassionally get dry skin around my nose & this has worked well for that also. Glad I bought it.
