Curcumin, a component of the spice turmeric, has been studied and tested by medical researchers for its effectiveness against diseases including cancer and Alzheimer's. On the official website of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, under Frequently Asked Questions About Curcumin, you can find a link to recommended brands of curcumin, including Doctors Best Curcumin, used in the Center's research.
The Doctors Best Curcumin formula includes Bioperine, which sets it apart from the other brands. When taken with curcumin, Bioperine (a registered brand of piperine, a pepper extract) has been shown to increase the body's absorption of curcumin.
In October 2006, I was diagnosed with a breast cancer recurrence. According to my oncologist, I had a hip tumor the size of a grapefruit. Immediately, he started me on a new regimen: a daily dose of Tamoxifen, an anti-estrogen; a monthly dose of Zometa to reverse bone loss caused by cancer; and 16 radiation treatments. Concurrently, I began taking 3 grams per day of Doctors Best Curcumin despite the skepticism of my oncologist. Medical research suggests that curcumin is a potent radiosensitizer that enhances the effectiveness of radiation.
At my November 2006 appointment, my oncologist was astonished by how my pain and swelling diminished after one dose of Zometa, one week of radiation and one month of Tamoxifen. He said he never had another patient respond so quickly. After completing radiation in December 2006, my primary oncologist and my radiation oncologist confirmed that my grapefruit-sized tumor is gone.
I am halfway through my six doses of Zometa and will continue taking Tamoxifen daily as long as it works to contain my breast cancer. I have increased my daily dose of Doctors Best Curcumin under the guidelines published by MD Anderson.
I am a 50 year old woman employed in the field of education. I am not now and have never been a medical professional. I have no financial or any other affiliation with Doctors Best Curcumin except as a customer. I first purchased Doctors Best Curcumin from a local health food market and then online through Amazon. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
