This is my first glucose meter so i can't compare it to other models. All i know that the Consumer Reports gave it a best buy and that it does the job. It's nice that the kit comes also with 10 test strips and 10 lancets.

I like this meter because it's easy to see results on the big screen, you can mark them for pre and post prandial readings, and the test strips are simple to insert and remove. Plus, the results in the large memory can be uploaded to your computer using free software from Bayer so you can see graphical monitoring of your blood sugar over time. The USB cable for uploading is an extra cost item, but it's worth the nominal cost. You can even email the results to your doctor.

I agree with all the above reviews. One thing I must add that the new lancing device accompanied this model is not very satisfactory and is simply painful whenever used to get a drop of blood.The depth settings are not clear on the barrel and you must be very careful not to press it too hard against your skin or you will get pain during blood sampling.In all other sense this is accurate and very convenient meter to use.For blood sampling pl use accucheck multiclix or soft clix lancing devices with very little pressure at the time of blood sampling.

I've never owned a blood sugar measuring device before. In fact, I still don't. You see my mother bought me this computer for x-mas '07, and now I'm responsable for deleting unwanted e-mails and making internet purchases. Alligning itself with those tasks seems to be the inevedable burdonsome quandry known as the "Amazon Review". Is it me? or should these people be paying me. Needless to say I might sue for pain and suffering if the medical bills start to accumulate. (I've got a very bad "delete callous".) Anyhoo, enough of my yackin'. The Contour actually is a simple and accurate device. I've tested good ol' mom three times already and it just gets easier every time. nice item

This meter worked for about a month, and then all of a sudden it was giving ridiculous results, such as 321 and 78 within seconds of one another. Because it's cheap, went ahead and got another meter, but after weeks, started doing the same thing. It's basically a disposable meter. Junk!
