This Tens unit has some power to it. I have nerve damage in my leg and most Tens Units just make the leg itch, But this unit gives strong muscle contraction well worth the money.

This system works great! Both my wife and I were having back issues that a combination of exercises, stretches, and the Sonic Electro Massage system is correcting the situation. Very easy to operate and works great!

Very powerful and performs exactly as advertised. It does not have all the features that your chiropractors $3500 unit has, but for muscle strengthening and nerve/pain relief, it is outstanding.

First things first. The device does a decent job of being an EMS device for the everyday user. The other reviews are decent, but I think I should highlight some technical points based on my experience with my chiropractor (I have a compressed disc injury in my lower lumbar area).
My chirpractor's device first of all is a Zenith Z4S I believe (I do not know if it is closer to a russian stim device.. i was trying to find it online, but couldn't so I bought this). It has 4 pairs of electrodes with each pair having:
1) The ability to be indepently activated.
2) Independent intensity settings.
3) Independent timer settings.
4) Independent pulse/duration settings with programmable pulse variation over time (i.e. an electrode can be programmed to automatically vary the speed of the pulse in a certain way with time, and it has a super fast pulse, like almost 10 per sec!).
It gives me intense contractions and felt like a REALLY deep tissue massage together with the strenghtening exercise. It was almost like an orchestrally crafted EMS stimulation session on my spine with highs and lows of pulses along the spine at different times. And I have to admit, after one session, within the next two days, I was doing things I wasn't even able to do without some kind of painful "body-rejection" effect before..... like push a hard bristle broom on concrete, bend down to tie my shoes, pick up a sheet of galvanise.
This Sonic Technology device also has 4 pairs of electrodes, but however has the following differences/similarities:
1) The ability to be indepently activated.
2) Independent intensity settings.
3) Universal timer settings.
4) Universal pulse/duration settings with no pulse variation over time (low pulse, highest being like 1 per sec).
I tried using the device once with one pair of electrodes at the lower back, and it can give a full intense contraction, but it seems that the low pulse results in it being more of a strenghtening exercise primarily than relaxation/massage. This is the main regret for me, that it doesn't have a higher pulse. For the price, it seems to be OKAY. I don't even mind manually adjusting my own pulse settings over time nad have universal timer settings, but it was just too low a pulse for me. My muscles and ligaments were in a naturally tense state after my injury, and it seems that the high pulse helps relax them.
Two days after use, my back appears more sore than before using. Which should be a warning for some of you depending on the nature of your injusry.
I will try tweaking useage and compare back with my chiropractor and try to give an update.

Received mine 19May2009. Quit working 23Jun2009, after daily use of about an hour each, on average. Problem appears to be the pads. I knew they don't last forever, but this is too soon, IMHO, to be ordering more pads. I use this for sciatic pain relief and like the way it works.
I wish, however, that it was quieter. Need a way to turn off the beeping, and the timer buttons click loudly. This is a concern since I'm almost always using this in bed and it wakes my wife. Last, but not least, the cords need to be a foot or two longer, both the electric cord and the pad leads.
6Jul2009 received some new pads, but still get the error indicator. Now, to find out how to get this unit fixed or replaced.
