Motherwort is a sedative and diuretic. MOTHER WORT (Leonurus cardiaca) Motherwort has been known to reduce palpitations of the heart, especially when associated with anxiety. It is especially beneficial for the anxiety after childbirth and for menopausal anxiety. It is thought that it has a short-term ability to lower blood pressure due to its glycosides. It is an excellent herb to use for amenorrhea or dysmenorrhea, especially when there is scanty menstrual flow. It is a menstrual regulator and may be used to treat functional infertility.
