Product Description
Proteinex®-18 is liquid predigested protein that has been broken down to its amino acid portions to provide patients with the highest concentration of protein in a small dose. Proteinex 18 has accomplished this by adding 3 more grams of protein to its original version Proteinex®. This new presentation does not contain sugar, fat, phosphorus, carbohydrates, lactose or gluten; therefore, it can be administered to patients with different conditions like gastric bypass, wound care, HIV, cancer or general malnutrition. Proteinex 18 will supply patients that have low albumin levels the required amount of protein needed in their daily diet. With only 2 tablespoons administered to the patient, he/she will receive 18 grams of predigested protein in only 72 calories. It can also be easily mixed with any beverage the patient may choose and with foods such as apple sauce or Jell-O. Proteinex 18 comes in two new flavors black cherry and lemon lime. Proteinex 18 has maximized the effective dose without increasing volume. |

I am a dialysis patient, on hemo dialysis. I was instruced by my nutritionist to start taking in protein either by powder or liquid form, in order to gain weight, and help with my wound healing. This bottle of Proteinx-18, Liquid Protein in a 16 oz bottle, Black Cherry was a product with much less potassium then the whey protein powder mix I was drinking before. It tastes ultra sweet, like cough syrup medicine, so I mix it the suggested serving size of 2 Tablespoons with 2 Tablespoons blended berries. This also cuts down on my fluid intake. There are 16 servings in each bottle. So, it should last 16 days. That would take 2 , 16 oz bottles for each month. The cost for each bottle is about $22.00, but also add in Shipping ($6.00 or so), and its almost $30 per month.
This is expensive. However, it is possible i'm gaining weight, and i do notice that my minor cuts are healing much better then before. Thank you.
