Pocket guide by Typical Consumer (Tennessee) 4 Stars
April 28, 2009
This is a pocket guide to advise you of how to manage medical situations that may be encountered while in a marine environment (sailing/cruising etc.) Not written for physicians, most laymen can find the information useful, practical, and straight forward. If you're going to be on the water more than a few hours from true medical help, this guide would be a useful asset. If you are planning an extended cruising voyage, it might be valuable to review the book as part of the trip planning process to ensure that you have appropriate medical supplies available in case the unwanted happens. There is no substitute for good planning; make contingencies for the unexpected.

Storm Tactics Handbook: Modern Methods of Heaving-to for Survival in Extreme Conditions, 3rd Edition
by Lin Pardey (Author), Larry Pardey (Author)

In a storm at sea, luck is highly biased toward the sailor who has a plan. So write Lin and Larry Pardey in this, the third edition of their highly regarded Storm Tactics Handbook. As in the first two editions of this book, they describe their concerns about the tendency of modern sailors to discard the classic methods used to bring sailing vessels of all sizes from vast clipper ships to tiny yachts through amazingly strong winds and heavy seas. There is only one storm tactic that has the...
