| Bravo, this little otoscope has amazing functionality wrapped up in its pocket size by Daniel Greenfeld M.D. (Anaheim CA) 5 Stars November 20, 2009 I have been so impressed with these LED otosocpes. I originally purchased the larger professional model LED otosocpe some time back and just loved the thing. I then came back to Amazon and purchased the Pocket Led model so I would have an otoscope to keep in my lab coat during hospital rounds. Nothing I hate more than using up my time looking all over the nurses station for a working otoscope when I need to do a physical on a patient I am admitting to the hospital.
I can not say enough good things about how well this little otoscope performs. The light is extremely bright and the lens is excellent when it comes to getting a clear view of the tympanic membrane. My only complaint is that I wish the disposable specula would fit on a little easier than they do. I realize this otosocpe is marketed mainly to parents who probably just clean and re-use specula but maybe in the future the company will produce a professional LED pocket otoscope with a nose cone similar to Welch Allen in which the disposable specula just slip on over the cone. Either way not much of a complaint since I only paid around $25 for the otosocpe and the light is guaranteed for life.
Overall you will not find a better value when it comes to an extremely functional otoscope that is light weight and easy to carry and use.
| | Dr. Mom LED Pocket Otoscope by Carissa Leapley (Omaha, NE) 2 Stars November 16, 2009 Not very fond of this item....maybe I am not sticking it in far enough into my sons' ears, but I get nervous, he moves around too much and I am worried I will damage his ear canal. I tried looking into my older sons' ear and couldn't see the eardrum...and I was a medic for 12+ years...
| | I was surprised by joetagaz (Scottsdale, AZ USA) 4 Stars October 23, 2009 I was a bit skeptical when I looked at this product. The reviews were mostly fantastic but it was selling for a low price.
My wife is a RN and I accumulate ear wax like Hugh Hefner accumulates blondes. She is nice enough to flush my ears out from time to time but we're never really sure she got everything.
Now we know! She's impressed with the light and the view she gets from this octoscope. Is it as durable as the one she uses at work? Of course not, but it's not being tossed into a drawer and being used 20 times a day. For home use it's perfect.
| | Dr Mom LCD Otoscope is a winner by Red Sox are due (Connecticut) 4 Stars October 02, 2009 I and my son are subject to frequent ear infections and I wanted a way to view the ear canal easily. I am medically trained and have used expensive hospital and office otoscopes but their price was too high. After reading other rave reviews I purchased the Dr. Mom LCD Otoscope a few weeks ago. I figured the price of less than $30 was low enough that I wasn't risking too much. I am amazed at the brightness and clarity of the view of the middle and inner ear. I was skeptical of all the review accolades, but I have to admit they were spot-on! It is well-designed, seems like it will last with reasonable care. Certainly not as heavy or rugged as a professional model, but certainly more than adequate for home use. I chose the scope in a hardshell case vs a soft bag, a couple more dollars but much better protected. Incredible Dr Mom LED Pocket Otoscope includes hard case - BEST HOME OTOSCOPE!
My only complaint is that I wish it came with more pictures of the ear and possible conditions - only 4 are supplied and they are part of a thin cardboard sleeve that fits around the case. However the website contains more and they are certainly easily found over the Internet.
This ia terrifc product for home use at a very attractive price.
| | great product but not the pictures by F. A. Tutak (Florida, USA) 4 Stars August 31, 2009 We loved this tool. I am a kind of person who wants to know what's happening etc. I loved the chance to check my son's ears by myself. He got terrible ear infections, both sides. I can see what's going on in his ears. I can see how severe they are. But I don't know how a healthy eardrum looks like because the pictures with the tool does not help at all. When I look into his ears it's white light but I guess the pictures were taken with yellow light. I couldn't undertand it was infection first time I looked into. The pictures are worthless. Maybe I will understand them better after I ask to our pedi but they do not help at all.
Bootom line: I do not regret buying this tool, it's well worth and I recommend it to everyone for peace of mind if your kids have frequent ear infections. But you need to listen other reviewers and get it to your doctor and get the doc to show you what to look for. We are going to doc this week to get some "training" on this tool. BTW if you do not travel much or move around, I guess no need for the case. It does not look too fragile to have a case. If you will not need the case don't pay for it.

Wow! What an otoscope! You will be amazed by its clear, bright view. And you will revel in its quality construction. This instrument is every bit the equal of the pocket otoscope offered by America's "premier" otoscope provider, but it costs a fraction of their price. The best part is that you need never again be confounded by a burned out bulb, need never lose a filament to a jarring drop, need not keep a stock of thirty dollar replacements on hand. And you will not find a better otoscope...
