EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Natural Choice diapers take an innovative environmental approach while incorporating super premium diaper quality. Natural Choice diapers respect your baby's skin, perform like a super premium diaper, and offer a competitive price. Like the highest quality premium brands, Natural Choice offers a stretch waist, full-stretch side panels, premium absorbency (with a bio-based absorbent) and a design-printed backsheet. But the environmental impact of Natural Choice diapers is very different from leading national brands. Approximately two-thirds of the materials used in the leading diaper brands are synthetic and are derived from non-renewable resources. The production of these materials consumes valuable petrochemical resources and in some cases creates adverse environmental impacts. Natural Choice Diapers are designed to reduce the environmental footprint created the the production and consumptiono of disposable diapers. Unlike most diapers, the absorbent padding material in Natural Choice diapers is totally Chlorine-Free. Dioxins and organochlorides are not released into the air or water. Natural Choice diapers also use less synthetic gel material in the absorbent core by blending an innovative bio-based absorbent matieral with traditional absorbent gel material. Finally, the backsheet and topsheet of Natural Choice diapers contain 50% plant-starch based Ingeo (TM) fiber, an annually renewable resource. | Amazon.com Product Description Natural Choice diapers take an innovative environmental approach while incorporating super premium diaper quality. Natural materials reduce use of petrochemicals Natural Choice's environmentally-sensitive diaper uses backsheet and topsheet nonwovens that contain 50% Ingeo Fiber. What is Ingeo™? Ingeo™ fiber is made from polylactide, a revolutionary new naturally derived material that comes from 100% annually renewable resources not oil. Ingeo represents the lowest carbon footprint polymer available in the world today. The entire manufacturing process from field to polymer uses 68% less fossil resources than comparable petroleum plastics. If 10% of the disposable diapers in the U.S. were environmentally-sensitive Diapers, it would reduce the consumption of petrochemical based materials by more than 20 million pounds. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 106 reviews)
| Your baby will really appreciate the quality of these diapers. by Papa Chu (Seattle, Washington) 5 Stars November 23, 2009 My daughter is currently 8 months old. My wife and I have been using NATURAL CHOICE diapers for 3 months. I usually do not take the time to write product reviews, but I felt compelled to write this review because I believe that BABIES WILL REALLY APPRECIATE THE QUALITY OF THESE DIAPERS and I wanted to advocate for all the babies out there.
My wife and I live pretty simply, we don't spend much on ourselves but we are willing to spend to make sure that our daughter is taken care of (no skimping on her!) These are probably the most expensive diapers out there, BUT THEY ARE WELL WELL WORTH THE PRICE.
Before Natural Choice we had tried:
-Pampers swaddlers
-Pampers baby-dry
-Huggies
-Kirkland Signature (Costco)
-Seventh Generation Diapers
-Bumgenius Cloth Diapers
Our daughter has extremely sensitive skin (especially the areas diapers cover). If we left her in a wet/soiled diaper for more than 10 minutes, she would start to break out in a rash.
WE WERE LOOKING FOR:
1) A diaper that was really absorbent, one that could absorb moisture and keep her dry enough so that she wouldn't break out in a rash after every car ride or nap.
2) A diaper that was chlorine-free
2) A diaper that had stretchy and comfortable side flaps/fasteners.
3) A diaper that was made with more sustainable/renewable materials (we go through about 5-10 diapers a day which means 1800-3000+ diapers a year into landfills!!!)
Natural choice diapers blew away all our expectations.
Some diapers are skinny and barely cover a baby's bottom, the edges of the diaper can rub and cut into baby's skin. Natural choice provides great coverage (our baby is BIG for her age) and the edges leave only the slightest slightest mark after hours of wear.
My wife and I use to have to wake up every couple of hours at night to check daughter's diaper and make sure she was dry. With natural choice, we have found she has gone to the bathroom 1-2 times (the diapers is HEAVY), but it absorbed everything: The skin is very dry and rash free. THESE DIAPERS ABSORBED MORE THAN ANY OTHER DIAPER WE HAVE EVER TRIED. Our daughter does develop light rashes pretty infrequently, but much less than ever before and we are so glad about that.
The side tabs are very stretchy and I imagine they provide comfortable fastening for skinny or wide babies (our baby is wide).
Most diapers make their padding with chlorine, and when you think about that, babies wear diapers on their skin for 1-3 years and personally I am weary about skin being in contact with chemicals for that long. Natural choice is CHLORINE FREE.
All I can say is try a pack. Your baby is worth it. I cannot speak highly enough about these diapers. It is hard for babies to advocate for themselves, so provide them with the best.
| | good diapers - size 4 identical to size 5 by A. Violas (Elko, Nevada (aka way out thar') 5 Stars November 16, 2009 We have tried: 7th generation, Huggies supreme, and these. Huggies cost basically the same. 7th generation run small. these are true to size and work well. We have twins and our boy is very sensitive, these are best of anything for rashes. I never had a problem velcroing them into a ball after done with them as one reviewer said. The size 4 weigh 44 grams dry and are the same size as the size 5, which also weigh 44 grams. our babies are in the 50th percentile for everything and weigh 25 pounds. the size 4 have fit them since about 12 months and still fit at 18 months. In the 7th generation we have had to to buy a size larger consistently to get the right fit even though our kids are totally average build. with subscribe and save these are a little cheaper because there are 180 per case. don't bother with the size 5 Natural choice because you get fewer diapers and the sizing dimensions and weight of absorbent material is identical to the size 4! the 7th gen are a little softer. but these are very thin due to using a special material. we have not had blowout issues any more or less with this brand than others. they are completely full in the morning however and we are thinking now of going a size larger at night to keep from being over full of waste. I would recommend these as a solid eco-friendly option.
| | Not my favorite, but still a decent diaper 4 Stars November 07, 2009 These are cute, good-performing diapers, but definitely not as environmentally-friendly as they could be. I've tried all of the "green" diapers and here is how Nature's Choice stacks up, in my experience:
Seventh Generation: 7th Gen is softer and the tabs are better, but my daughter gets horrible rashes from them. Nature's Choice is slightly "greener" and has a cute print, and are also cheaper.
Earth's Best: EB are softer and fit better, but NC are slightly "greener" amd cheaper.
G-Diapers: G-Diapers are hands-down more environmentally-friendlly, but they are more expensive and I personally don't like the way the cover fastens in the back.
Nature Babycare: these are my absolute favorite. They are more environmentally-friendly and fit better. I would love to keep buying this brand (even though they cost more) but there have been major issues with the redesign :( so Nature's Choice will suffice.
| | best priced enviromentally friendly diaper by Emily N. York (Louisville, KY) 5 Stars November 02, 2009 I have tried every "eco-friendly-diaper", and this one tops them all in fit and price. I use it at night and when we go out (cloth diapers during the days spent at home) and I have never had a problem. A diaper is a diaper, but when you are trying to be just a little bit nicer to the earth, it is great to have one with a more competitive price and fit.
| | Effective, comfortable, better than big commercial brands by CHmom (Hawaii) 5 Stars October 27, 2009 I am very happy with the performance of these diapers. They are just as absorbent as the bigger name brands (Pampers, Huggies) and fit my baby great. The elastic tabs on the sides keep the diaper snug and the material is soft. I use these primarily at night and on trips and have not had any leaks. I have not tried the other "green" diapers but I'm happy to stick with these since they work great.
